PLEASE HELP
I just purchased a 1990 5.0 gt with a stock lower end, afr heads holly systemax intake adj fuel regulator, nos, 40# injectors. i think 70mm air flow sensor. heres the problem. ive only drove it a couple of times and if i dont let it warm up for like 20 minutes before i try to drive it, it fouls the plugs to the point it wont even start. if i put new plugs in it it pops right off. its done this twice now and ive only had it 3 days. the guy i bought it from is clueless and says its never happened to him. it ran perfect after i let it warm up real good and drove it home. i havnt used the nos. the plugs i pulled out are the autolite 3923. any help is appreciated.. thanks guys....

First off is it a wet nitrous kit or a dry kit because those injectors which would be 42# not 40# are far to large for that motor unless its a dry kit and he is trying to use those to supply extra fuel. They are gonna be the main reason the motor is fouling the plugs, does it have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on it. Those plugs are are no longer made says the autolite website so that might be problem number two is they could be the wrong plugs for the car.

Those mods with no N2O would only need 24# injectors.. maybe 30# at the most with a good cam. What color are you injectors?
Not sure about the heat range of the plug you're running either. Too cool of a heat range will make them prone to foul but... too hot will cause detonation, especially with the nitrous.
Are all the O2 sensors hooked up? MAF plugged in? Is the MAF wire clean?
Like Spike said, I think the injector size is a bit much, the nitrous system should be able to compensate with extra fuel (either a fuel solenoid or pressure switch) without needing that big of an injector. What is puzzling is that the prior owner didn't have the problem (so he says). Have you messed around with anything between when you bought it and when you first had the issue.

sorry guys i was wrong about the injectors. Heres what the sale add said. Afr 185 heads with 58cc. holly systemax intake, 30 pound injectors, 75mm mass air and 75mm throttle body. bbk 1 3/4 inch headers, 3 inch bassani x pipe with 3 inch mac pro dumps. And i think im going to try and find a hotter plug to run and see if it comes out of it.

That plug is straight trash and is the first thing I would get rid of. Stock plug from NGK is the UR45 though you might need one thats one step colder then that. And if you spray you will need one one step colder for sure.

thanks spike.. i probly wont spray this year do to weather here but id like to drive it around a bit before it snows. will the ur45 fit my afr heads? a stock 5.0 plug is alot shorter then the autolites.

One other thing while you're in there. Since you have some decent mods, you might consider spending a couple bucks on a new cap / rotor along with an improved coil from any of the reputable ignition companies. If you really want to smooth things out, an ignition box with Multiple Spark would help out too. I know Summit has their own branded ignition boxes and there's the old standbyes MSD, Accel, Crane, etc...
Ford's ignitions were adequate stock but with some stress they can really be a weak point.
I thought of another thing too, does the coolant temp warm up? Thermostat could be stuck open (or you might not even have one) and making it tough for your car to go to open loop because of coolant temp never getting to the 180-190 degrees? In closed loop it will run rich and with the extra injector size, that could be the problem. Hotter plugs would only be a band aid in this case. That brings up a whole other possibility that your coolant temp sensor could be giving up too and causing your issue. I only thought of this b/c you mentioned if you let it warm up for 2o minutes it would be OK. Where you located and is your weather getting colder at this point?

Hey look my SVT wheels! I have never seen them anywheres else before and I notice you have a red brake caliper, thats what I am going to be getting done soon. It looks great due to the pattern of the wheel, it can be clearly seen. If you have any other pic's of them it would be cool if you could post them, I like seeing what my car will look like.

Man, that 95stangEater guy is very unappropriate. I am glad he is banned. We do not need these type of people on our forum. The PCcola guy is up there with him. I think they are those type of people that sign up together and start disrupting and raising hell in forums. I really dislike these guys. What do you guys think?

i put ngk 5553 in it and it seemed to handle the start up alot better. havnt fouled sense. also found out the alt is too small for the system. we ran a test while it was running and as soon as the electric fan kicked in it drew the needle down in the red. going to have it beefed up.
