STreet, yer losing this one dude. lol.

TonyG

Hows yer bottom end looking? You got that **** built?

If not, pretty ballsy running 440-470hwp on a stock block, yer gonna destroy yer bottom end if yer not careful.

Nice vid though, i wish my speedo jumped like that does.

once i get rid of this 4.6l with the payments in liu of a 89-92 5.0 that is paid in full, ill be scrambling like mad to get that accelleration.

Been running at the 440+ level since 2003, with over 200 dragstrip passes. I'd say its holding up well. It's got solid fuel delivery, and was tuned by a very reputable tuner (Dave Guy at Kauffmans/SGS). He tuned his cousin's 01 GT to make 530 rwhp on the stock shortblock, but he doesn't race it regularly like I do.

Eventually I'll be getting a forged shortblock. But even if the engine is built, it won't last long if there's detonation. On the other hand, the stock rods/pistons can actually hold up pretty well if you have plenty of fuel and have a solid tune.

It's not really evident in the video clip, but it was spinning throughout first and most of 2nd gear. So the immediate jump in MPH isn't "real."

None the less, you hit 100 awful quick.

You probably are running the highest HP on a stock block as i have ever heared. Most people are worried about pushing 400. Glad it is working out for you though, those are some awesome numbers!

There are 2 local guys that my tuner has tuned that have been pushing 460rwhp for over 2 years. Both are running blower cams and 10psi on S trim Vortechs.

im sure this car has blower cams....keeps sayin stock SHORTblock so something is different about the heads. 440 10 psi on stock short end with blower cams is pretty common from what i seen.

I don't have blower cams. But I've been thinking about it as a next mod.

hmm...maybe blower cams will help me acheive a top speed higher than 110 <roll eyes>

1 - There really is no RWHP limit on a stock block per se, it is really more of a total hp issue. Keep in mind that the amount of rwhp you make is the net effect of how much total you make minus efficiency losses. Cams, for example, make a car run more efficient. Still, I think you are making a lot for a stock block...more then what I would be comfortable with.

2 - Dave is great tunner, he tuned my car. I am surprised he did yours with this much power. He was much more conservative with mine.

3 - Posting vids of speedos is kindo borning.....bitching about it is even more borning.

4 - Anyone who drives 170 on a street should have their DL taken from them forever and their car impounded.

5 - This entire thread just shows why street racing is soo stupid and such a menace. Who wins? It is not the guy with the fastest car, but the looser is often the guy with enough smarts to take his foot of a pedal....how strange. At least at the track, there is a start and a finish.

This post is fun, but you guys start talking seriously about meeting on the street to race, and this thread is getting deleted. Otherwise, have fun.

(1) Nothing unsafe about the tune, been running at this power level for over 7 years and over 200 passes at the dragstrip. Something would have happened by now if it were otherwise. 420-440 rwhp can be safely attained, if you have a good fuel delivery system and a good tune. The max rwhp tuners are squeezing out of 2v's has been increasing year by year. In 1999-2000, I remember 380 rwhp was the absolute max that everyone said was possible before rebuilding. Now its up to 500 rwhp. A big turning point was when the twin Cobra pumps came out and people started figuring out how to deal with the returnless fuel system

(2) I never said the video was done on the street. In fact, it wasn't. In response to the ridicuous top speed argument that "Speed Racer" (or whoever) made, I quoted a perfectly legitimate MMFF article where it was actually measured on a vortech blown 2v GT.

(3) Sorry for all the controversy. I received much more mature responses in other forums. Actually, 99% of the guys here were pretty cool, too.

i went 170 because there isnt a actual speed limit out here on the highway system. so lucky me but when i went that fast i blew two seals pinion and tail shaft seal. i also may have jacked up my torque converter so it really wasnt worth it...one more thing went wrong one of my fog lights fell out of the housing as well but that was from shitty install from a body shop only one screw was holding it in place.
