Default '96 3.8 exhaust advice

sorry guys but i don't know much much about exhaust setups. i want to upgrade my exhaust, currently i have the y pipe setup that splits into fake duals. i want something better, with a nice sound. would a dual exhaust be ok for my car, i keep hearing mixed opinions. if you guys could give me some advice on a good setup, including what to ask for at the shop, i'd appreciate it.

if you find something you like let me know i am looking at getting a cat back which would split off the y pipe which sounds like what you have. i might be interested in buying your old setup if you have no use for it. i have a single stock exhaust now. do you have chrome exhaust tips now?

i had single exhaust and i just got mine done a little over a month ago. mine is true dueled with two separate pipes from the cats with flowmasters and it sounds good. i mean it sounds like a v8 not like real loud and throaty but it sounds good and ive had compliments...

We have an exhaust sticky at the top of the v6 forum with great info on exhaust for all v6 cars. I would go read threw that then come back and ask whatever questions you need and we can go from there.
