New Stang, Advice please?
Hi all, I just moved to US (Raleigh, NC) a couple of months ago from New Zealand, and got myself a 2005 V6 manual from a local dealer. Having had a good browse around here its got me interested at having the T-lok & 3.73 Gears installed. However being new to US, just wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to what brand/price (+ installation) and also where/whom I should go to for the installation around Raleigh?

Also, having my previous car being a 94 silvia S14, I'm very new to the American Muscles, and was wondering if anyone could clarify a couple of questions for me. (I've tried the search function, but these I couldn't find clear cut answers to)
1. Compared to the S14, the clutch feels quite difficult on the mustang, and hard to define a "release point". In addition to the slight throttle lag, I stalled quite a bit when first got into the car. Now I find myself having to over-rev when hill starting just to make sure not to stall. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Or is it normal for Stangs and I should just get used to it?
2. The gears feel a little clunky compared to the S14, and sometimes I can’t get into first/reverse from standstill, and have to shift into second first before shifting into first/reverse. Also the tranny sounds a little rough when cruising at 1200~1400rpm, definitely not as smooth as the jap cars I’ve been driving. Are these issues normal for this kind of cars or am I due for a good service?

Yeah I think it just something you get used to. With both my stangs I have owned (one auto and one 5spd) the auto transmissions are really sloppy and don't make shifting smooth, the manuals are better(in my opinion) but the shifting is notchy if you will and I find that at least in my cobra it does shift smoother at slightly higher rpms(2200-2500 rang) as apposed to shifting below to 2k. Might want to look into a short shifter to make shifting a bit more crisp and smooth, but don't expect it to become like butter, it is a mustang after all, there meant to be a little rough around the edges.

yep. It's a good tranny. It takes several thousand miles and hundreds of shifts before it smooths up but eventually it'll smooth up (as long as you don't beat it up with lazy shifts or clutch hazing). TR3650's in the GT's are the same way. The clutch is a little vague compared to some others, especially cars with hydraulic clutches but you'll get the hang of it.
Definitely get a short shifter. Best money you can spend on shift feel. As for the guts/stalling issue. Gears will definitely help out there. I'd stick with FRPP or Richmond gears and a good ol' ford T-lok differential. 3.73's are great.

Wow guys, just installed a MAC boom tube (Axle back only, stock Y-pipes) on my V6. The sound is amazing compared to the stock, idling is quiet and deep, and when i put my foot down she really roars. Overall very happy with the install and outcome.
Just wondering though, having read many posts about CAI on mustangs, would I be correct to summarize that CAI don't do jack for sub 04s, but do help a little on 05+? is that for just GT though (what about 05 V6)?
