It lets you to a small point change the air/fuel ratio on the tune. Richer means more fuel, leaner means less fuel. For best n/a power 13.5:1 air to fuel ratio is best. For power adders 12.5:1 is best. Most stay a bit lower then those to keep it safer.

Safe is best though not really which one makes the most. for instance you can make 30rwhp more sometimes leaning it out to far but the motor wont last and then it is worthless.
So trusting your tuner is very important especially when you get into high dollar stuff.
