Default gears installed!

yep, finally got the gears installed and got the car back thursday of last week. i freakin' luv'em! ya'll were right, don't fear the gear. it livend the car up a lot with very few adverse effects. i gotta pick up an sct excal.2 or livewire tho, damn speedo is off a bit, bout 5mph. other then that, i'm kickin' a shade over 2k rpms @70mph in 5th, so not too bad! as for gas mileage, from what i can tell not too bad either. this mod was def. worth the $800 it cost! the t-lok is a reall fun mod also. yup..just figured i'd let ya'll kno.

thats what i'm thinkin'. i want to try and build the motor a bit before a poweradder. so when i do put a turbo/sc on it, i can use it to full potential.
speaking of which...anyone know of a site that offers parts to build up the 3.8?

motive 3.73's and a motive bearing and gasket kit (whole thing, not install kit), both from AM. and the t-lok i found at jegs.com for 240? sumthin' like that. v6mustangstuff.com has it for 199 tho, but ive never ordered from them, and i trust jegs.

Default site of help

for any one who has a s197 with a v6 and a 7.5 rear. check out www.newtakeoff.com they full ready done take out rears with less then 10 miles on them with 3:31 LS up to 4:10LS axle to axle bolt in's.

i did a 8.8 LS w 4:10's under mine to handle the stage 3 procharged 4.0L in mine for less then a G note. good thought when pushing the envolpe in power to more then small 7.5 can handle with out breaking like i've done.

Will those rear end assemblies for the 05-07 fit on an 04? If they do, I might get one with the 3.73 gears on it. I think it will save me a bit of money rather than getting a Detroit Truetrac and 3.73s for my 7.5

i think the truetrac is better then the frpp t-lok. but the 8.8 is def. better then the 7.5, so i guess it's a give and take thing on this one decision.

no the 05+ rear end is setup for a 3 link rear end and we use the tried and true 4 link setup.

Ah crap. Oh well. Can't blame me for trying I guess. 7.5 rear end, 3.73s and a Detroit Truetrac it is then!

speaking of the 7.5 rear end, anyone know what the max tq rating is? or their opinion of how much they would put on it?

I dont know any exact numbers, but I believe the more you bolster it, the more it can hold. Obviously. I myself will be using a Detroit Truetrac, gears, and anything else I can find that might make the 7.5 stronger. That should hold a good amount of torque. Unless of course, I can find an 8.8 for cheap.
