Default whats wrong with my mpg??

my last three tanks i had been getting about 17 mpg on my v6. I took out the air silencer because i was bored and i got 15mpg on that tank. Is it my foot? i normally shift about 2000/2500 rpm is that too high? is it a fuel problem, injectors, filter or an air problem with the maf or something else? BTW i just changed the filter, its a fram if that matters

well it all depends on if i drive the freeway or not. I drive mostly town driving. I go to school and back like 3 miles then work 1/2 mile total im not driving her hard. so i get like 12 mpg. But on the freeway I drive 75 80 mostly for a total of 25 miles but thats just on the weekends. but wheb i hit the freeway it goes up to 16 mpg.

oh yeah i changed my plugs and wires and no joke got 3 mpg better on the freeway and 1 mpg better in town IMO its worth it.
