To Rebuild or not?
Well, I've been thinking about this for a long time..
The Stang just keeps getting older.. lol I've been thinking about either getting a new Stang or rebuilding the 6. Now.. What would the best way to go be? Obviously I would need to do alot of work to rebuild..
Engine, Thinking either 03-04 Mach engine? Or a new 3V? Maybe even a V6 Crate Motor?
Most likely need a new transmission.
New Rear-end, Gears, T-Lok, aluminum driveshaft etc.
All new suspension, shocks, struts, springs, etc..
Would need:
New front and rear bumper covers, (maybe just do some type of body kit)
Car would have to be painted, and all dents/ dings pulled.
would most likely have to do new carpet, and would want to do new seats.
So basically we're talking a huge build.. What do you guys think I would be looking at? Would it be more economical then throwing down $22k+ on an '06 GT? Would it make any more sense?
Help me out here guys.. Thanks.

well if your talkin abotu cheaper, buyin a used Mach 1 is probably alot cheaper then redoing EVERYThing in your 6banger, theres alot more upgrading to a V8 then you might think...

I did find an '04 GT basically brand new fully loaded with the Mach1000 for $16,500. But I really don't want a 2V..

Mustangs seem to hold resale up here way more.
I see 06 V6's going for 24k with over 20k miles here. that one aint gonna sell.
this one seems about average for 05 V6's..... 18k.

i have yet to see an 05 GT for under 23k around here unless it has super high mileage.
this guy is just smoking crack.

I would say get a cheap crate motor from RPM and call it a day, you dont have to go nuts with it but forged pistons/rods (only I beams) get some CNC heads to go with it, a cam etc and set it up to hold the power. you dont even have to go to a 4.2 if you wanna save the money
http://rpm-mustangs.com/cart/product...roductid=16368
4 grand gets you a extreamly solid motor that should be good to well over 500whp (hell Matt is only using I beams and he is at 600whp+ from an AUTO!)
The drop in is direct so there is no bullshit wiring to deal with, just swap in, swap out.
that or you can do it the long way and get a local guy to rebuild it.

No ****!
I've got a guy @ Carmax looking for one from auction. "Under the table." Hopefully if I can get one at auction/wholesale price, I might just be able to just get an '06.
Im still considering keeping the 6 and building a track car, prob. an SCCA racer.

well if its not going to be a daily driver then check into swapping a 5.0 in there. thats what im in the process of doing. rebuilt 5.0's arent too expensive. Found mine for $900 with the GT-40 heads on it. No more AC, computer, harness, nada. Just a carb, 5.0 and a LSD. thats all i need. Not to mention I havent seen many 99-04's with 5.0's. The T-45 tranny will work and so will my 7.5 rearend. Its got 3.73 and a factory t-lok. The motor itself probobly puts out what like220 rwhp. The stock tranny and rear will handle that no problem.
