supercharger question
So anyways, i was browsing ebay, which i seem to do when im bored and my brain hits autopilot. Anyways i decided to look up mustang superchargers and found a couple eaton m90's that said they fit the 3.8. They were selling for >$500. for instance:

or, this one?

if i were (theoretically speaking) were to buy something of this sort, what would be required to install it. Is this just one part to an entire kit? Is it cheap because it sucks or because its used, or because its lacking something else? Just wondering...

the eaton m90 off the T-birds is for single port headed v6's aka the 94-98 cars (99-04 are split port headed cars). So if your a single port headed car you can bolt it up. But your going ot need alot of parts and alot of extra bullshit.
In short its cheaper to get a used blower for your car off of a forum.

Yeah, my friend also told me that its not really worth it to get a used one unless your sure it is in perfect working order, because if the turbine or whatever in the blower doesnt work right it will actually make the engine work harder... dunno if its true but ill take his word for it

Well, I beleive the charger is on a belt... so yea it could make the engine work harder to power it..
Im not really big on used things, unless its from people I know..
I dunno just save up some of that AF cash and go get yourself a procharger ;p

blowers are parasitic. they require power from the engine to operate them. Typically with a M90 you're looking at 40-60hp just to turn them to 8-10lbs of boost. So yeah, if you twist up 8lbs of boost then your engine has to create not only the power you see at the wheels + 15-25% driveline loss but also 40-60hp that's lost running the blower. Does it matter... no. Turbos provide "free" boost because they're using wasted exhaust energy to build boost but blowers aren't so lucky.
And yes, used blowers can be worrysome. You never know what condition the bearings are in, if the rotors ever touched while spinning, etc...
Save up, get a new kit.
