Angry Cracked manifold 2k V6...

Ok, so after about 3 months of getting that throaty/pinging sound of what I hoped to be a hole in the exhaust has turned out to be a cracked manifold. As per the muffler shop it's on the dirvers side on the flange (whatever that is). Now thanks to good ol' internet, I found out that there was a class action lawsuit which required ford to re-imburse ford owners for this repair (affected various makes/models). Unfortunately the re-imbursement only lasted till March 16th 2006. Does anyone know if ford is still re-imbursing or if there's an 'extension'? Maybe some of you that work at a dealership and have some info.

I've read that it can cost anywhere from $700 to $1200 to get this piece replaced or welded shut. Of course, the last place I want to go is to the dealership, God knows how much blood they'll squeeze me for!!! Should I replace for the same piece? Where can I get the piece at a reasonable price? and what am i exactly looking for?!?!? oh so many questions...

thanks for the input!

ceez

ps- here's the link to the lawsuit: http://fordmanifoldsettlement.com/index.html

check ebay for a new intake for your motor, then bolt it up and be done with it.

I thought the re-imbursement was for only GT's year '99 to mid-01'. I may be wrong though.

The re-imbursement was for the 99-early 01 GT INTAKE manifolds. He's talking about the exhaust manifold if i'm correct. And no they dont re-imburseme you for that exahaust manifold. Just get a new one and bolt it up if you get it welded up it may not hold.

thanks for the input guys. so after some online research i need to replace the drives side short header.

Now what would you do? my stang is 2000 with 10k miles (reached 10k on friday!). I am proably planning on keeping it hopefully for another 2-3 years as long as it doesnt start breaking down and costing more to maintain. Should i get an aftermarket bbk or mac short header kit, oem from ford or oem from a junk yard? I am just worried that if i get oem's they will crack again in the next few years, but if it took them 6 years to crack i doubt it would be that bad to just get a set of oem's.

thanks for the input,
ceez

Look on ebay. If you can find aftermarket headers going cheap, then just get them. That way you're replacing the other OEM header just in case something might go wrong with that one.

If you don't find any than try and find a OEM shorty. It may be hard to find just the driver side header though.
