cracked JLT ram air induction
I drove out to my buddies house in Aurora today to hang out. He wanted me to take him for a ride so he can feel the 4.10's. Well I got on it in 1st, spun all of 2nd, went to shift into 3rd and missed. All of a sudden the car shook violently and started to slow down. I put it in neutral and in gear and it would not rev at all. The battery light and check engine light turned on. The car died so I pulled to the side of the road. I popped the hood and the JLT had a perfect cut right where the elbow connects the straight piece. I went online and looked at other JLT's and you can see that their is a seam there where the pipe is glued together. That's exactly where mine separted. I duct taped it really well and headed home. Just arrived with no problems. What should I do? Call JLT and see if they will send me just a pipe? Or get a different induction like a K&N? I could also try glueing it back together, but I don't know if I would trust it then. Thispipe has been on my car for 2 years. Thanks for the help!

I would call JLT and talk to them first, who knows they my replace it free of charge. If it was possible to find a PVC pipe with a diameter just small enough to fit inside of the tube with no gaps, use pvc glue and that would make a pretty good repair. That might not work deppending on where the break is, sounds like it is might be right where it starts to bend? I'd have to be all straight. I really like the JLT RAI so I wouldn't suggest going with a different brand.

Thanks guys! JLT will replace it. Just need to send them an email with a picture. If you look at any JLT RAI you can see that there is a seam where the elbow is glued to the straight piece. That is where it separated. So i'm guessing the glue just wore off after 2 years of it being on the car.

Yeah I think since the JLT RAI's don't have a brace towards the filter end there is more stress on it than you'd think. At the last autocross even I competed in earlier this month I raised my hood after a run to see the tube disconnected from the TB. Just wiggled its way out of the silicon coupler. Just had to push it back on and tighten it down. I hope it had only been like that for one run.
