Cracked Intake....help/advice
Guys,
I finally cracked my stock intake (122K miles). Questions:
1. How hard is it to replace it myself?
2. What is a fair price from a decent shop to do the repair?
Lastly, since my cracked intake was discovered, of course I smell coolant, can see the green residue from the area of the leak etc. But a couple of days ago, I got gas and pulled out from the station and my car was running like sh*t. I step on the gas and it like my exhaust was clogged. My exhaust sound is muffled and puts a bit. I thought I had just filled up with bad gas, so I tried some gas treatment (1 bottle), but no improvement yet. My question is: Can the cracked intake cause this other engine problem? Is there too much air getting in the engine? The crack can't be too big because I don't have to replace coolant but about every few days, and it's just to satisfy the "low coolant" light. Today after a short drive, I opend up the cap to the coolant resevoir and smoke was coming out. This tells me that my coolant is getting hot.......but what else should I know?
Help, or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I replaced mine with a PI intake and made more power in addition to fixing the problem.
what year is your car? if it is a 96-97 is is slightly more dificult to do the swap because you have to remove the water pump. on a 98, it's easy if you have basic hand tools with only a little expierience.
go to modular depot, randy has a complete kit that he can sell you for a good price.

Thanks
Well I do have a '98 GT. Anyone have any instructions on how to replace and any after replacement adjustments etc that need to be done?
Also, I have a "class action suit" letter here at the house about the lawsuit. The Oct. 7th date is coming soon, maybe I can deal without my car for a couple of weeks until a decision is made. Who knows?

When I went to the dealer the monkey said that I wasnt covered so I decided just to do an engine swap to 4V cobra motor. If you have someone do it or if you do it yourself make sure you keep the receipt so you could get your money back when lawsuit goes through. http://www.blueovalnews.com/2005/leg...ree.18jn05.htm

Cracked intake update
Well, I got my intake repaired for just over $800. This included new plugs and wires which I installed myself. I bought the aftermarket replacement intake from Autozone for $250, and it has the aluminum crossover. Ford wanted over $500 for the same part.
The lawsuit is complete, you can read up on it at http://www.fordmanifoldsettlement.com/
Some of you may qualify for a refund, unfortunately I did not. My damage/repair occured 7 years and 10 months after the warranty started for my car. The cutoff is 7 years. :censored:
