STC chip

Congrats on your stang! and thanks for joining the forums.
5 Speed or Auto? If you have an auto you will bennefit more from the chip. By itself, the chip won't help much.
What are your goals and we can help you better?
If you want to add some vroom, I would do the following:
1 - Gear swap
2 - Chip
3 - Nitrous!

You should investigate getting gears. You drop a set of 4.10's in that baby and it's like adding 40 rwhp.
Regarding turbo's and supers, that depends. I would go with a turbo. Things is, some SC's are better than some turbos and the other way around.
SC's don't have as much lag, but make more power. And the right design won't have much lag at all.
They both blow air into the motor, right? A turbo does it by driving the fan with the exhaust, so there is no loss of power. A SC, drives the blower witht he engine.
To be honest, I think nitrous is the best way to go especially with a V-6. It's safe if done right (no worse than a turbo or sc), cheap to buy and install, and you can always take it off when you want to sell it. It is also fun to use and learn about. You really need to understand cars with nitrous, but it's not hard to learn.
Only down side is that the bottle goes empty (lol).

Anyway, I have kids too, and as a father, I would kill ya too if you put nitrous or a blower on the car. Either is just as "dangerous" on the road. BUT, I will be teaching my daughter to drive in a few years and she will learn to drive the Mustang at the track and spray it. Thing about spraying, is you can spray safely for racing, and then enjoy a more tame car around town.
I have never had a V-6 stang or even drove one for that matter. So, I don't know if they lay rubber. With an auto with the stock converter and a V-6, you have a few strikes against ya. Gears is the best way to waken it up!!!! Figure about $500 - $600 to buy the gears and have them installed. Best bang for the buck! Then you follow shortly thereafter with a chip or tuner...either way. Your total investment will be about $800 - $900 and the car w ill be quite a bit quicker and drive a lot peppier w/o killing yourself.
Gears do not require a whole rear end....
Ever drove a ten speed? Think of getting gears like ridding a 10 speed on the smaller sprocket up front. You accelerate much faster.
Regarding the tuner vs chip discussion, read this thread:

Then you can decide what is best for you.
Most likely as a young guy, you will like the Diablo Predetor.

But, i forgot to mention something, you definately need a tuner/chip if you get gears especially with an automatic or the car won't shift properly. The chip/programmer will also calibrate you speedo properly for the gears.
Regarding the exhaust selection, just get what you like. Some like flows...some don't. It's a personal choice. If you want just a little rumble, rumble that's a bit louder than stock, then just get a Flowmater muffler welded in. Or, you can go all out and convert to a dual exhaust.

did you see this?

Thing is, looks like you just need the catback. And if you want, you can get the Adaptor kit and then you can use any v-8 catback. Though, I am not sure.
