Default Give me you "SPARE" thoughts.

I was just on AM browsing through all that stuff that I cant afford right now and got to thinking about how the trunk of my car is in such **** poor shape. I have had NUMEROUS types of cleaners, polishes, windex and all kinds of other crap leak/spill out in my trunk.

Well in short I got to thinking this. . . .

How would it look if I were to get a new trunk mat and mod/cut it out to allow me to set a full size rim and tire right where the spare goes. I have thought about it and I could even take part of the "cut out" and make a circular "backing" thing to fit inside the rim so the bare trunk floor isnt showing through the rim. Other than that I THINK it would look pretty sweet to have an extra FR500 rim in the trunk for the "full size spare tire" sticking out of the trunk floor like that.

Give me your thoughts, what problems would I run into? I cant think of anything myself.

Its a good idea, but the tires you have are probably bigger than the spare so you might have it not sitting very well, and if youre hoping for it to be flush the the bottom of your trunk id forget it.

I had a full size 17x9 FR5 in my trunk all the time... I just threw the thing in there. 99-04 mustang trunks are basically useless anyway due to the tiny opening they have. The FR5 BARELY fit through the opening.

If you think the 99-04 trunk is useless you should see a convertible fox trunk

If you were to put a full size spare I wouldn't cut the carpet around it like you said, I'd just loose the carpet all together.

you should be able to squeeze it in there... i had a 17x9 with a 275/40 on it... oh but you've got 18's... that might make it impossible.
