Default Tough decision...give me your thoughts..

Ok guys, I have the xbox 360 reserved. Its going to cost $400 plus tax and I also gotta get a game and theyre $60 plus tax. that totals $500 just to get it and play it. Now I already have an xbox with some games that I like, but I just know that if I dont get the 360 when it comes out(and cancel the reservation), who knows how long I'll hafta wait again til I can get one(bc demand will be so high). It could be 6 months if I give up this spot. If I sell my xbox and everything, I could likely get $130 from it. I'm also selling my ping pong table and hopefully byt that time will have my udp's sold. Those 2 are another hundred. Totalling all of this, I will end up owing a lil over a hundred....but is it worth it to dish out $500 when I could put it to something else and just wait for the 360? As I'm typing this, I am getting closer to one of the decisions...keep the xbox for a while or sell it and get the new one.....but any help would be great. The game I have reserved is prject gotham racing 3 and if you've seen it, looks to be spectacular.

Thats a helluva lot of $$ for a video game console.

Wait until the price drops or buy yours and sell it on ebay for a profit.

I highly doubt the 360 will be $200 in a year. I would not consider the price of a PS2 in the store "nothing" because they are still over $100. I got my PS2 the night they came out and it was $250. They have been out for what...5 yrs now...and they only went down $150. So how in the world do you figure something like the 360 will go down $200 in only a years time?

Id like one but im going to wait. They will be impossible to get at first, then the market will be overwhelmed and everyone will have one. The prices will be way down on ebay after that. Games as well...

you can play old xbox games on the new one, and I was planning on keeping forza bc thats my favorite game. one big problem is that u cant transfer memory from the xbox to the 360, so I'd have to reupload all my music and replay all the games that I already have on the original. Adn the ps2 was 300 when it first came out. i dunno where u bought it but tell me

one big thing that sucks is that I have $50 deposited for the 360, and it's at my 2nd job(the video game store) and they always bitch and moan when customers/employees take back reserves(bc reserves are what they drive for). I'm also worried they wont give the $50 in cash, but rather in store credit = gay.

welcome to economics. They price of a good is always high when its introduced this is to help cover the manufacturing costs, develpment etc.. cost. as the product is producted more and has been int eh market long the price goes down.

just wait a year it will go down in price. i waited 3 years to get my ps2 got it for $169 it was wel worth the wait plus all the sweet games were like 15bucks by then granted i wasnt the newest games but like i said in other post i am on a college budget so yeah.

Yeah, just keep the xbox now, 360 is guna be huge, but there won't be a whole lot of new games for it...after a year or so the price will go down...and more games will be out for it...

Oh and by the way, have you sold the ping pong table??? I think my friend was lookin to get one to set up at his house for beer pong...

nope. I just called the newspaper today and itll go in on saturday, but if you wanna pick it up, thats fine. It's full size, will fold up, excellent condition and comes with brand new unopened paddles and *****. brand new is 4140 plus tax and $80 takes it. I wouldn't ship it though, so it's strictly pick-up only. I'll post pics if you want.

where does your friend live? remember, I'm down in tampa(check out mattj's thread of the maps of mt members) and the only way he could pick it up is w/ a truck or maybe a big van. I'm at school right now, so I cant get pics at the moment but I'll get some tomorrow if youre still interested.

in the new xbox magazine they said that xbox games released after 360 will be compatible on both xbox and 360...and they also said that either they will make a patch or somehthing to play certian xbox games (prolly only Halo and Halo 2) to on 360 prior to the launch

they will play all of the games. not just certain ones. I know this for sure. as I said, my 2nd job IS after all at the vide game place. not to brag though, bc video game stores suck to work at...no joke.
