I'm going to take one to a custom painter that did some work on my mini-sprint and see if they can be painted with a durable paint. If it works out, I'll post some pics.

Mgr. told me that, even though I was willing to pay return freight, the best he could suggest was for me to try to sell them on ebay!!! They LIED about what they were shipping me, and then would not let me return the goods!! Be REAL careful dealing with this company !!! They will be hearing from my attorney very soon.
i know you were here... but 1400 for 2 wheels ???

from what i read here...you asked for Antracite wheels. well, you got anthracite wheels. From 2001 all the way to 2004 bullitt wheels were anthacite. 2005 and up bulltt style (keyword STYLE) wheels are also antracite except the 2008 Bullitt. the 2008 bulltt wheels are darker than the ones you ordered. i think you should hit up IMBOC forums or website to see what paint code the rims are . those guys are bullitt freaks and know everything about them.

tough learning experience but AM has their return policy written and this is what i found.

10. At no time will used, mounted, or balanced wheels be accepted for return. Damage done to wheels during mounting or balancing will not be covered by AmericanMuscle.com. Customers will be responsible for checking wheels for damage before they are mounted and/or balanced. Installation costs/mounting and balancing fees will not be covered by AmericanMuscle.com for any returned product. Any wheels returned incomplete (i.e. missing center caps, etc.) will be refused or returned to you at your expense.

from what i can tell some phone operators at AM are mustang fanatics while some are just there to work and take phone orders. Back when this place first started up all of the employees that worked for AM (used to be called mustangTuning) they were all mustang owners and were real people you could talk to. i used to go to there little place where they worked out of the same office that xoxide (sp) was working out of. maybe you got one of the other ones that dont know the difference in shade of the 2008 bullitt wheels.

Thanks for all the info. I actually bought 4 wheels and tires. I had two phone converstations before purchasing. One was a salesman, the other the Asst. Mgr. I was VERY specific in describing what I was looking for. I specified a 2008 Bullitt and told them they were a DARK color. Ford still calls it Anthracite, so I wanted to be certain that they understood what I wanted. It was only after solid assurance that they knew what the '08 wheels looked like and that these would match closely that I bought them. Also, an attorney friend of mine looked at the disclaimer on returning mounted and balanced tires. He said that if I had them mounted and balanced AFTER I purchased them, I would be stuck. However, since I bought them mounted and balanced, that constitutes a finished product, for which the vendor is responsible. It has now become more a matter of principle than cost.
Thanks again.

P.S. The description on the website under the picture that looks dark grey is "They feature a deep anthracite color and a highly polished lip to make the wheel catch the eye of anyone who even looks in your car's direction." And, I am a member of IMBOC (Bullitt registry). Trust me when I tell you that they all now know not to buy these wheels!

Good idea getting him to take a look! That sounds like something that could go your way now!

Well.... I was going to see if I could seel my current rims and if I could buy some rims off of AM... after hearing this. And finding out that if they do the balancing that I can't return them.... I will also be shopping for them somewhere else.

This may be an isolated case, and I understand how problems can happen, but it never occured to me that they would take a position like this. Except for the one wheel I opened up, the others are still in the original boxes AM shipped them in! Most of all, I was insulted when they suggested I sell them on ebay!!! After offering to pay return shipping, and a restocking charge, I don't know what else I could do. By the way, want a good deal on some nice Mustang wheels??? Just kidding. Thanks for the post.
