Stupid freakin torsion springs!! >:(
Welp, there goes a perfectly good 225 freaking dollars. Dammit.
Every time i have etxra money something ****ing breaks.
I got home from running some errands this morning and my garage door wasnt opening when i hit the remote. Son-of-a ... new garage door opener, that shouldnt be the problem. Power was workin in the house. WTF
So i disconnect the garage door from the opener and try to pull it up.
Felt like i was lifting a freakin car.
300lbs of garage door aint easy to lift.
So i look up and see the Torsion springs, the one on the right side snapped about half way through and pulled about 4 inches apart.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Frickin Frackin filth forth florin forth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways. i get to work, start a google search to see what im gonna have to do to swap out the springs. Apparently it is a massive pain in the *** and without specialized tools takes about 6 freakin hours to do.
So i bite the bullet, called several places and found an outfit that will fix the issue. 225 for 2 new springs, labor, plus they will go through the garage door part by part and tighten everything up etc etc. lifetime warranty (50,000 openings and closings which is roughly 30 years of use)
Ive never tried to open a garage door that had a busted spring. I was used to the ease of manually pulling them up and down.
when that spring breaks, that thing could come down with enough force to rush a car. the doors like mine weigh about 300lbs!!!!!!!!
thank god my car wasnt half way in the garage....
END RANT.

Wow!!
Dude I could have fixed it in less than an hour. When I first got out of the Army I worked with a buddy of mine installing garage door's I probally could have saved you at least $100
Yea those thing's are heavy as hell without the spring's to help out.
