Default longtube headers worth it?

do longtube headers (specifically SLP) give you enough power where it's worth the $750 for the part itself and $500 for an install? i know horsepowers costs alot of money but damn i could get a tune n gears for that much.

Hookers are $660 for headers and x-pipe. If you plan to do any other mods in the future, then yes, they are worth the price (especially if you plan to supercharge).

I would go with the tune and gears before LTs. And yes if you go FI they are very good for that.

I would do the tune and gears first. I have shorties on my automatic and only did them at the time of the rebuild on my motor. Otherwise, I would have waited to do them a little longer. Go for the gears and tune...

Id do headers before tune. Makes no sence to do them after and get the car retuned later. Who knows how much power youll be cheating yourself out of. Just makes all that money you just spent on headers even more pointless.

HOWEVER, you can get an XCal2 or SCT chip with a mail order tune (free) for the gears, then get a real dyno tune after you install the headers.

You dont need to spend so much money on headers. You can get Mac HTS coated headers for $340, or the Cremic coated ones for a little more and they work just fine. Then a Mac o/r H pipe for $170. Then do the install yourself or find someone to help.

I see you already have the Accufab TB & Plenum; I have been told that you see a minor difference with that setup. However once you get long tubes with the Accufab (or really any TB & Plenum setup) is when it really wakes up.

I know that a local shop here sells the bbk LT's with bbk X-pipe and install for $800.

My understanding is most Stang shops hate doing the install.

the only way that u can get blown header gaskets is if u reuse the stock ones....if u get brand new ones than they should last longer than you....haha

OK, i didnt read this whole thread, but here's my first hand in put...

I have full SLP exhaust and got SLP LT's and SLP catted X installed at the same time.

This is my only major mods beside a CAI and a custom tune.

With that said, LT's should be more on the list for exhaust/sound/tone preferance than power (unless you're forced inducted)

I spent 900 dollars for the LT's and catted X brand new and 500 for both installed together.

If I had to do it again, I would prolly just of gotted a catted X, 4.10's gears, DR's and still my tune. Then again, it would be really hard to tell for I LOVE my exhaust sound/note and get multiple complements every day.

For your reference... from my factory tune with my exhaust set up to a few tweaks running on 93 with a custom tune, I only gained 5RWHP.

It depends on the end of the LT's. I know with SLP you have to have SLP mid pipe

i found a guy that has slp lm's on his car and hates it. he said that it has less
a few miles on the exhaust. he also has an o/r x-pipe, its a bbk brand. he told
me that he would take $650 for the whole thing. could i just get the cat back
and bolt it on to the exhaust i already have. the mid pipe is stock but i had
an x welded in place of the h. he said he would take 450 for the cat back.
is this reasonable and would you put that exhaust on your car? i appriciate the
help i have been getting from you guys. im pretty new to the stang scene.

I paid $350 or something like that for my BBK Ceramic Coated L/T's with a VRS X Pipe (used) and installed them myself...FREE.

WORTH IT!
