V1 close thread. I have had others and like they say once you live with the arrows you wont want anything else. They are great lets you know how many and where the signals are coming from. Lets you plan your attack better if you will.

Valentine V1 hands down. Saved my butt many many many many many times! It tracks 9 different sources of radar simultaneously and tells you the direction the most immediately threatening radar is coming from. Its expensive but worth it to know there is a cop hiding behind that radar enabled speed sign you pass every day and would ignore the warning from a lesser radar detector.

i love it but i don't feel the need to speed anymore haha so i never use it. ive only had it for about a month or 2. it's very nice and in town it's uselful and it usually goes off like 1/2-3/4 mile away from a cop haha. so your turning your head like crazy seeing where it's comming from then you finally see all the way up the road ha.

Thats crazy!

a friend of mine has his hard wired directly so its always on directly into I think the center console cigarrette lighter in the center console and has it mounted just above his drivers side sun visor.

pretty slick!

I have an Escort Solo 2 radar detector. It was a gift from my wife. It has saved me more than a few times when I perform my favortite piece of "Classical music"...

Right Foot and Pedal Symphony for 300 horses in Ford Mustang Major!

and for those in california... you might as well give me the 400 bucks cuz CHP and many of the localities use LIDAR now. In all the ways that radar was unfair LIDAR is 100x worse. You need to be about a 1/4 mile or closer for radar to give a proper reliable prosecutable read but you can be much much further away from a laser (LIDAR). The frontal area of detectable radar waves is bigger than the front of your car which makes the old K/x/Ka band radar fairly easy to confuse by just staying close to other cars. Laser has a detectable frontal area of only a few square inches and is much harder to detect and even harder to confuse or invalidate the reading.

I use a cheap *** sensoro Silver Bullet. It was FREE. it's saved my bacon from a few pretty expensive tickets, even a lidar ticket (long story).

For the most part, if you're going to pay for it get the v1. If you're not paying for it, don't bother at all.

This is true, however with a good detector you will get a beep when he hits another car infront of you and you slow down knowing something is going on. Thats why rule 1 of going over the limit is never speed when your the only car on the road. But I see alot of people getting owned on that front because it doesnt occur to them that if there the only car on the road and they flip the instant on radar on your the car they clock not someone else. But its a useful tool when used with some smarts I think. I really like mine alot even though I actully speed less now because Im so much more aware of what the police are up to.

no.. v1 or you're just not getting the best. When the repercussions of having less than the best are as expensive as a citation can be, it seems more like an expenditure towards cost avoidance more than just buying too much detector. I'm really quite happy with my 79 dollar (which I got for free... ooooooh yeah) crap box detector. It's not that good but it works and having it has caused me to slow down my driving in general now that I know where all the cops like to hide.
