Default rear mach 460 speakers blew...

so my rear mach 460 speakers blew a while ago, i can hardly listen to any songs with bass because they start popping, very annoying. i know this topic has probably been slammed but i couldn't seem to find an answer. i know the easiest option would be to buy replacement speakers from ford since they are plug and play with the mach 460 setup. however, my question is, what is required to install aftermarket speakers? i have read that if you're going to upgrade anything with the mach 460 it's pointless unless you do the entire stereo due to complications. if it is possible to install some aftermarket 6x8s with minor modification that's fine, i will probably have a shop do it locally since i am a newb when it comes to this stuff. can someone shed some light on this? what is required for an aftermarket rear speaker swap?

i would think just get a replacement speaker and remove the old one and hookup and mount the new one w/ the wire that was connected to the old one. no need to go to extremes and do the whole system. lol...
