How much did you end up paying for the hood?

I did the same thing myself, and had to fabricate a bracket for it but it turned out quite nicely

That really goes nice with the paint job. So, honestly, did you notice any hp gains? I've always wondered what they gave bc the mach 1 has 45 more hp than the gt and all it really has different(performance wise) is the shaker hood and 4v instead of 2, so I was always curious..

it may add a couple of ponies at highway speeds but nothing noticable. It's really an appearance mod.

Heck, I've got a cold air intake on there as well so it really makes no difference at all lol

4V instead of 2... those extra valves really let alot more air in/out. The mach1 would have still been much faster that the GT without a scoop. With the scoop, however, it outruns 99 and 01 cobras

Well, they're not really a LOT faster. 45 hp lessens your 0-60 by a few tenths and same w/ the quarter mile. But an experienced gt driver could beat an inexperienced mach 1 by skill alone. Though I've never driven a mach1. Do the extra valves give the engine a different feel? I know they give hp and torque, but i was always curious.

The scoop doesn't give you any power, nothing noteworthy anyway. It is purely there for looks

Its not just "adding" 45 hp when you compare the 4v to the 2v. The 4v is stronger in the entire powerband than a 2v. If you were to add 45 hp through bolt ons to your GT according to advertisers claims, you're adding 45 peak hp.. and possibly losing power (hp and tq) at other points in the power band.

4v's are stronger performers than 2v's.

I don't know if I would go so far to say that. I have emailed the guys here at MT asking about the Air Shaker Scoop. When I asked what the difference would be between that and a CAI, in terms of hp gains, they told me that using a Shaker Scoop gives you a kind of percentage boost...not just a flat-out number. I don't know from experience, but that is what they told me.
Just my 2 cents.

Vendor's hp numbers are always inflated. Just look at the system and it's pretty obvious that any benefits will be negligible

(by the way, I installed a mach 1 hood and didn't notice any difference)

You arent going to benefit from any "ram air" effect unless your doing 80 or better. On top of that, the air has to change direction several times before it ever sees the intake. If it was like a ram air TA, where the scoop is directly in front of the throttle body and is a straight shot into the intake, it might make more of a noticeable gain. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, and its not a fake scoop. As someone else said, they should have done this to begin with on the GT.

Steve, I saw pics of it earlier today on your car, and it looks great. I wouldnt buy it for the added power, just the looks.
