Default Want to convert to MACH1

I have now decided to transfer my 2001 GT to a Mach1 Bullit. I now that i have to get the Ram Air Shaker Scoop System. But I want to find a hood like this one with the hole and fitting already done like this one here

The green GT at the bottom.

http://www.imboc.com/phpBB/viewtopic...rum=21&start=0

Does anyone know what hood he has on it and where i could get it.

Also does any one know how the ram air shaker connects like will it go directly onto the intake mainfold.

Also can NOS still be used with this.

First a Bullit and Mach 1 are different cars. The bullit (green one on the link) normally does not have the shaker hood rather the normal GT hood with the scoop.

You have to figure out which one you are trying to clone.

The hood on that green GT is an OEM Mach 1 hood, ask your Ford dealer how much it would be.

The shaker kit has piping that runs from the scoop to the OEM location of your filter. You just replace your stock filter cover with the one from the kit.

www.karkraft.com sells the shaker kit to go with the OEM mach 1 hood.
http://www.karkraft.com/ram_air.htm

There are pics that show everything on that link. The cost is $579+ whatever the OEM mach hood is + paint.

You can still use the juice.

It is going to be the MACh1 that i want to copy.
Will that setup on the link you showed me work with a SOHC GT.

And the tubing coming off of the shaker, will that go to the throttle body directly. And where is the air filter exactly?

What should be a good price for the Mach1 hood?

And will i need to get anything differ for my car if i buy the shaker kit and hood. also how will the mass air sensor hook up.

And where will the injector for NOS hook up at.

sorry i have so many questions about this but i want to make sure i get it right the first time.

Yes its for a GT. But you might get some **** from people for cloning a mach 1 exactly. The hood and stuff are fine but dont put the badges and decals on it. Some people will think your a poser, but I say its your car do as you want.

no look at the pictures. the tube that comes from the shaker goes into the stock airbox. look under your hood on the left front corner, thats youre stock airbox. the supplied kit will include piping that goes into that.

Call Ford, I havent priced it.

You wont need to touch your MAF.

MO if youre going to run a bottle and have it professionally installed. No offence but you dont seem to know a ton about the car. Nitrous is a pretty serious thing, if you hook it up wrong BOOM. Leave it to the pros.

I think the shaker system is sweet for a GT, but personally I wouldn't put the Mach 1 badges/decals on it. Not sure how to post a previous thread so you can view it, but there was a pretty good conversation about false badging. Many of us have Mach 1 and Bullit parts on our cars, but not the badges. Just my 2 cents. Good luck on the shaker system, it looks sweet.

That would be nice a true shaker setup. My first car was a 1970 Mach1 with a true shaker hood and skoop. I bought the car back in 1984 for $1800, That's before they didnt cost much and junk yards and used car lots were full of 60's and 70's mustangs for cheap. I traded the car and some cash for a V8 Vega!!! what the f was i thinking!!!!

I did love watching that scoop shake!!!

Good luck.

I too was in the conversation about miss badging and would not do that with my GT. I love my GT and she loves me.

I just never messed with the shakers before and with NOS. I have a buddy at Steen Racing that would hook up my NOS. I leave that to the pros. Nothing worse than a cracked block.

The GT decals would stick and I would be very proud of my GT. I look at it as my GT is a unicorn in my eyes, and you dont have to like it.

With the mach1 hood though, would it sit up high enough to stick out of the Mach 1 hood?

And I do know my mustang and I know it very well just havent used Shakers before or even touched them.
One other question is, I am using a CAI from mac so I know that i will have to take that off but should I use
http://www.steeda.com/store/-catalog/555-3121.htm
from steeda. And with this shaker would it still work on my 2001 mustang.

The steeda would possibly work, but you are just as well off buying a K&N for your stock airbox. You might get a hp or two but imo its not worth 200 unless you want it for the bling.

I have the steeda CAI but bought it more for the bling than power.

Do you plan on swapping to a 4v motor as well?

I would not want a wannabe mustang. Be proud of what you have and expand on that. :icon_thum

Define Wannabe. If you put a Super Charger in your mustang, in essence you are making your Mustang a Cobra. See the logic in this.

Remember I am putting a Ram Air system in my car. Im not misbadging or even calling it the Mach 1.

Mustang is a mustang. Im just improving my performance.

I will say this and End. Dont be mad because you are not able to change your car in such a significant way.

As in the words of Socrates. Climith under a rock, and stop complaining.
