Mach1 all the way. I had a GT and loved it, but the rpm range and hp gain of the Mach1 is what puts it over the top.

i really cant decide cuz i think i like the hood of the gt mustang better than the shaker........... the gt hood looks more powerful, but it does absolutely nothing towards hp

Go with the Mach 1. The fact that it has 4-valve heads means it has more potential than the GT ever thought about. I wish I'd bought one instead of my GT, but that just means that now I can get the '07 Cobra.... :headbang:

The GT hood is a pain. When you wash it, water gets caught under it and in the honeycomb insert. Polishing around it was a pain too. Every time I would wash it, I would curse the darn thing for holding so much water after I would dry the car. Also, as you mentioned, it isn't functional.

Just my opinion, the Mach1 hood is more aggresive and with the shaker being functional, that is the way to go.

my brother has a black 99 gt mustang. i will post pics of it soon. some advice. once u wash yr car dont worry about drying it yet. drive it around the block and get on the brakes at the very end. the water comes right out of the honeycomb inserts on the hood and in the grill. then pull it into yr garage and dry it off.

I am scared to think that someone who is just getting their DL would be driving either one of these. Anyone with me on this? (oh wait, that was not the question). I think it's cool that you have this chance to own one of these cars. Just don't drive like you are invincible and remember, there is no substitute for experience and maturity. You might have the later, but definately not the first.

Ask a lot of questions. There is a lot of experience on this board from people who can help you out.

The Mach 1 is much more of a car. There is no comparison. I would own one right now if they made a vert.

Be safe and God Bless your insurance company (lol).

im not gettn the car right away. im gunna drive around in the parents car for a lil bit. when im 16 and a half is when ill get my car. this is good because the price on the machs will drop a little bit and ill have some more money to play around with. i put up another thread about what color i should get. i want either dark shadow grey or black but im not sure. i think i might go with dsg becuz if i do get ne scratches they will b less obvious. my bro has a black stang and might have one or two minor scratches that rnt that noticable but wouldnt b visible on dsg. what color do u guys think i should go with

The fact that you think 6 months of driving is "experience", well, I guess I thought that when I was 16 too. Just be sensible and safe and enjoy yourself. Having a fast car takes a lot of responsibility. Just know your limitations and that you will not be a good driver for many years to come.

Keep in mind that as a whole, drivers 17 and under have as many accidents per mile as drivers over the age of 86.

I say DSG! That's my favorite. Throw on some black lemans stripes and you are good to go.

Actually the price is only going to go up due to it being a limited edition. Keep in mind that the Mach 1 is very powerful, it moves like a gorilla that was just sodomized with a jackhammer. When I was 16, my honda accord with a itty-bitty vtech I-4 around 150 hp demanded most of my concentration while driving. Imagine a 4.6 V8 DOHC rated at 305 horsepower is going to be like for a new driver. A 16 year old kid in my town had a beautiful black 04 Mach 1 new. Now its just a hunk of **** after he destroyed the entire front end of the car along with the passenger side. He was being stupid and he's paying for it. So do us all a favor and dont be stupid, eh? Honestly bro, get an auto V6. It'll be a break for your parents, it'll be a car you can get some good expirience driving, and it'll still be a Mustang.

I just read how old you are... don't get either. If you're dead set on a Mustang get a V6.

I waited until I was 19 to have a car with power. Its not gonna kill you, and even though you've seen the Fast and the Furious a million times, having a fast car does not get you chicks... being a guy chicks want to date does.

When I was 16 I had a hand me down 94 Accord 2.2L auto. Sold that 3 months later to get a 95 Chevy S10 V6. That truck ran mid 16's and was slow as hell compared to my Stang, but was alot of fun. Had enough pep, but not enough to get me in alot of trouble.

Not to mention insurance is going to rape you.
