Default Answer is the deciding factor if I go with nitrous or not

I need to know that if I buy a Zex Wet Nitrous Kit and have it tuned, will I be able to drive around with the nitrous tune when I'm not spraying or if the nitrous is off? The tune would also consist of a JLT cold air intake, magnaflow x pipe catted, flowmaster catback, and 4:30 gears. I've read that you have to retard the timing and buy different plugs so I was curious what that would run like when I wasn't spraying. And just to let you guys know, the car would rarely see the track.

You can drive around all day on the nitrous tune and it won't hurt anything.

Yeah but will the car run funny with the timing being tuned for nitrous and it not being sprayed?

It won't run funny however it may seem a little more sluggish than usual due to having some of the timing pulled.

Will it be that noticeable, and if so, is it even worth going with the nitrous kit?

You don't have to have a tune if you just plan on running a 100 shot or less...I know a few buddies that just changed the plugs and have sprayed 50+ times...My good friend actually has a 99 cobra with just catback and intake and he has been spraying a 100 shot for 3 years now with no tune and no problems...If you plan on spraying over 100 I would defiantly get a tune just to be safe.

Does your buddy have a tune for the intake and the exhaust, cause I have read that if you tune the car for an intake and exhaust then it will cause the car to run lean.

no he doesnt...You don't need a tune for catback/intake on 99-04 mustangs. Now with the 05+ mustang's you would. Intake is more for looks on the 99-04's and catback is more for sound. Now when you do headers/mid-pipe it is a good idea to get a tune.

Tell whoever is tuning your car that you're going to want to run nitrous and not to advance the timing. You shouldn't have problems.

You have a 99 cobra right? if so a tune isn't needed for under a 100shot. Hell I ran a 125shot for years without a tune.

It will not be as quick when off the bottle with the nitrous tune because it will have less timing, but it will still run just fine. I drive my car all the time with nitrous tune and colder plugs and it runs fine. Its not as quick, but it runs just fine. Of course the nitrous tune isn't made for running quick when off the bottle. So this should come as no surprise.

What size shot are you going to run?

I was gonna go with a 100 hundred shot...so your saying that I can have my car tuned for the CAI and the exhaust and gears and I can just add the nitrous without retuning

6 of one. New plugs and a tune that doesn't advance the timing and you're good to go to 100 shot.

don't be scared of it. Just respect it. It's a tool not a toy.

If you get a tune setup for those mods and don't tell them you are running nitrous they are going to add alot more timing into the motor. THIS IS BAD FOR A NITROUS CAR.

However you can spray on the STOCK tune or a tune setup for nitrous without problems and still drive the car on this tune.

I am guessing you are wondering about this since you are looking at a hand held tuner right?

So when you are not spraying just run the n/a (non nitrous tunes) and when you want to spray just upload the nitrous tune. It takes around 2 minutes total to change tunes. Even with my old SCT Xcal2.
