Default Higher mileage- safe to supercharge?

I own a 99 GT with around 78,000 miles. Minor bolt ons, runs great...but I would like more power. Do you guys think that this stock engine has too many miles on it for a supercharger??? I'm thinking the Mongoose Vortech kit- 8psi.

If the engine is in good working order there is no reason not to.

And if it blows up just get a new built motor and crank up the boost

Get your compression cheacked out and make sure your motor is in good form. I have 91,000 miles on mine and I feed it a healthy 125 shot of nitrous here and there.

if it's been whipped daily to get the miles it has...probably not. If it's been driven less than abusively every day... go for it.

If you want to be safer a turbo is less stress on the engine. You can still make the same amount of power or maybe even more.

bought my car at 36,000 miles. Ran bolt ons until about 60,000 when I added nitrous. Ran a zex kit for 6 months. Then put on an NX plate and ran it for about a year and a half spraying almost daily until mileage was about 110,000. Then I put on the s-trim. right now its 8psi making about 350whp 360wtq. It runs so good that im adding an intercooler and 10psi pulley looking for about 410whp at 115,000 miles. I figure itll last until at least 200,000 with 400+whp. Another engine is waiting to go in but im running this one until she blows!

These motors are beasts as long as you keep them maintained (oil changes, spark plugs checked, air filter) they will last for a good long while. But once in awhile people get unlucky and they pop.
