Default Intercooling my vortech...

Heres a link to a really good write up about adding a custom intercooler to your mustang GT.

http://www.limedev.com/Intercooling%...20Mustangs.pdf

I am going to start this very same project here soon. The plan is to have it intercooled, with a blow thru MAF, 10# pulley, and some type of blow off valve. Can you use the stock lightning meter for blow thru? This guy made 429RWHP on 10psi with his setup. I really would like to see 400WHP on 8psi....

there are tons of guys doing this now. They go to ebay get a intercooler and some pipe off of there and then some T-bolt clamps and silicone hoses and start fabbing it up. Not to hard to do.

you can use the LMAF for blow thru but it gets pegged faster for some reason so you will need a maf xtender. the constant psh psh psh will get annoying my bosh did that **** constantly until i added the vortech race bypass.

if its in the near future then wait for the tune. dont want to spend 200-400 bucks on 2 different tunes. you should of just got 42# injectors as well.

if you do the DIY intercooler that means you save over 600 dollars from a paxton unit.

So could I use a diablosport Mafia on it? Thats odd it gets pegged out, I thought the lightning MAf's wouldnt peg until like 500whp. The only other option I think would be to run an SCT Big Air MAF, but I have a diablosport chip and I dont think they will work together.

So your bosch made that sound alot? Ive just been driving around keeping it out of boost so I dont know what mine sounds like. I just know that when I spool it up at around 3500rpm's the blower goes silent. I wanna hear something when im gettin on it so im looking towards the BOV.

Its definately positively getting tuned this next thursday. I was going to get it tuned last week, but I only had enough money for them to do a "drive tune" , so I saved more money and its getting on the dyno thursday instead. I cant wait until after I do the intercooler, its been running untuned for too long now. I probably wont have it done until January anyways. Yea I know I should have just gone with the 42# injectors, but I got these cobra ones for cheap and I cant find anyone to buy them from me. They are rated to like 500whp so if I need anything bigger in the future ill just get some 60#.....

You do realize that a BOV will only vent air after you get off the throttle just like a bypass valve so it's not going to change how your blower sounds at WOT. But as soon as you get off of it lets say to shift then you'll get the pshhh sound you usually only hear on turbo cars. It will not however change how the car sounds at WOT.

Also I don't know what kind of numbers you're planning on pushing but a 90mm lightning unit can run more power then the more common 80mm in a blow through so you might want to look into that if you aren't making huge power just yet.

So the s-trim wont make any kind of noise while at WOT? I thought it made some sort of whine... I havent given it any boost to find out yet. All I know is that when I am going down the road, if I dont shift early and let the revs get up to around 2800-3000 the whistle gets REALLY loud, but then at 3500 it suddenly gets silent.... I want people to know it has boost when im racing, so I figured a good blowoff between shifts would make that apparent.

s trims are quiet to me...the BOV or BPV only change how the condensed air leaves the intake tube when u let off the throttle..if u wanted that pssh sound you shouldve went w/ a turbo

when i only had the bosch on, it made the psh psh sound all the time. it was becuse there was so much pressure built up in the intercooler that it overworked the little bypass valve. freeway cruising sucked becuase my car would buck and surge real bad. so i had to add the race bypass. i have a draw thru set up and my maf pegged at 5300 rpms but my injectors show that they open up as more boost is made. since you dont have a intercooler you wont have the psh psh sound from your bosch thats why you dont hear nothing. i still run the bosch and when i let off throttle at 5k+ i get the psh psh.

the mafia will work, i guess thats what the xtenders are called these days. since you dont have a intercooler your bosch will remain queit, sorry. add the intercooler and it will make that sound but your cruising will suck ***. with a blow thru set up you can vent to atmosphere as long as you hook the maf after the blow off valve. then you will have the psh psh psh etc all the time even at idle. the guy that sold fish that procharger made the psh psh at idle. yes the vortechs are quiet at WOT, bummer. hey its a sleeper though, besides my SOS A pillar pod gives me away.
