Could you post a link from where you bought them, so we know what they look like.
My smoked headlights, that I bought from AM, don't dim the light at all because the whole lens is clear. Just the inside of the headlight is smoked.

Okay, so your headlight lenses won't have any effect on the brightness of your lights since the lens itself is completely clear.
5000K vs 8000K is purely personal preference, I chose to go with 8000K and I think they look so sexy. I would imagine that 5000K would emit more usable light, but to me it doesn't matter when you have HIDs.

Yeah, I'll just stick with the 5k then. I didn't realize that the lenses were completely clear and that the surrounding area, with respect to the reflectors and what not, are just dark.
