Default Mustang Vs. Deer

So I was hanging out with my girlfriend today and I decided I wanted to drop the mustang off at home so we get her car and she is following me to my house. I'm on this straight road, downhill, going about 40 when bam outta no where it was like somebody paused time and placed this damn deer right in front of my car. I didn't even brake or anything, it all just sorta happened. So once I hit the deer it flew up in the air and spun all around and landed right where the windshield ends and the convertible top begins. Then from there the deer flew completely across the road and landed. Then it hopped up and ran away. I have no idea how since the body of the deer flailed around so much and it landed on it's neck. Anyways so I hop out of the car to check the damage and my right headlight was busted up and my hood has a crack in it stuffed with some deer hair. So I brought the car home and we will bring it to insurance on monday to see what will happen. Only problem is I have to go back to school 2 hours away early monday morning so I guess all this will be happening while I am gone and I might have to bring my sister's car to school. Does anybody know how this usually goes with the insurance company? I know they cover the damage in most cases. I was wondering if they do pay for damages, do they just replace with stock parts or if I find something else I want that is the same price can I do that?

That sucks man, I hit a deer in early December but it didn't flip over top of the car like yours did. The insurance company called it an "Act of Nature" and so all I had to pay was the deductable. Our premium didn't go up either. And as far as I know, you can't just go to the body shop and start picking out different things like a better bumper or anything like that, but I could be wrong.

Yea, the insurance will take care of that in one of two ways. They'll send your car to a shop and have it fixed with OEM parts as good as new, they pay for everything, minus deductable.

Two: They'll get an estimate from a shop of dealership of what it would cost to fix your car with OEM parts, then they'll write you a check and send it to you in the mail. Then you can do whatever you want with the money. I'm sure you won't do this but I'm just saying; say there was 1500 dollars in damage you'll get that check and can use the money for w/e or not at all and just save it. It's possible you might come out ahead in this after all said and done.
