Some people are rediculous...
Okay, so I was browsing around at some mustang pictures from looking up the black '69 Boss 429 in that other thread about favorite classic mustangs...anyway, I somehow came across this picture and found it outrageously rediculous.
Here is the photo on greatmustangs.com
Okay, okay...I know some non-photoshoppers are saying "what? It's just a 2010 Shelby...what's the big deal?"
Well it's a stolen and very poorly photochopped picture.
Here is the original.
The only things done to this photo are a hue/saturation change, reversal and cropping of the image, white-out the GT500 on the door, black airbrush over the cobra grill emblem. I'd actually be surprised if it was PS'd at all...almost looks like a fast GIMP chop. Either way, sucks and not to mention illegal.
So to sum this up -
If you're going to steal an image and make it look like your own and use it/market it as your own (this guy is selling t-shirts with that picture) at least put a little more than 45 seconds (if that) worth of effort into it.

I did a better ******* job than that in MS Paint of covering the Cobra emblem on the grille, the GT500 on the door, and cropping out the rear antenna in 4 minutes.
Ain't going to try changing the car color to red. The hell with that. My point is that the dude could have spend a little more time to cover it up instead of making what looks like little blobs.

If he's selling t-shirts using the Shelby even if he's disfigured it, I think he's going to need permission from Carrol Shelby Inc and FoMoCo. Since he ganked the pic in the first place I would bet he has no permission to use the image and since it's still someone elses image I'd probably think about sending a note to Ford about it. If he's going to be ripping off art he should at least have to pony up the royalty cash like everyone else.

I know, but it's from the same shoot. I know of the guy who shot that but couldn't track down the exact image. Anyway, a letter has already been sent to FordMoCo...couldn't find any contact info for Carroll Shelby Inc.

Here is the url to where he is selling the shirts with the stolen image. I haven't gotten confirmation from FoMoCo yet, but I imagine that his pictures will be down before tomorrow.

I'm cool with people making money but he's basically stolen a pic that belongs to FMC and has parlayed the image onto 500 retail items he's selling. I know if I make money from the image of a mustang I don't own I'll end up paying a portion of those proceeds to Ford. Carrol Shelby would be furious too... probably more for defacing the image of his secksy Grabber Blue GT500 with that terrible performance red.

Well, technically he did modify the photo, so it is not really against the law... But really, all he had to do was delete all of the logos and Ford trademarked badges on the car and they wouldn't have anything to say about it..

I don't think he modified enough of it. he removed trademarked logos but that's like saying that you could paint a copy of the microsoft logo onto mechandise with a mustache and not have microsoft trip. Anyone here in copyright law?

See, but he left the SVT caps on the wheels and the Cobra emblem on the side of the car. In the picture that I modified I deleted all Ford trademarked images, therefore they don't have anything to bitch about because all he is using is a "likeness" of a Mustang......
