100-300 for the block and crank. If you hose it down, hit it with some penetrating oil afterward to ward off any further rust. While you're at it, you could knock some of the rust off, just stay off any bearing journals or mating surfaces.

Stages are a generic way of describing what you want/have/need. I would tell them to make them flow 220-ish CFM intake and to not kill the port velocity in the process. If they know what they're doing and have the right equipment that order will not be too difficult. Operations like Modular Head Shop, Total Engine Airflow, Fox Lake and others do have "stages" but again, that just for ease of description.

A random thought from experience: Having your existing heads ported will cost about 800-1000 bucks or so. Then you'll need a valve job for a hundred or 2, and you'll probably want better valves and springs and locks and retainers which is another few hundred. You'll be into the heads you have for 1300 or better. I would really consider adding 700 bucks to that and taking it to the next level (a level you can not reach with any ported PI heads) with a set of TFS heads.
What kind of flow numbers should I be looking at with my heads? I'm going to get them done locally, I found a place in town that is an actual head shop, just wondering what to tell them I want. I'm still undecided on if I will build the heads beyond just the porting. I know navi heads are supposed to flow better than any others after a port job.

If i get my hands on navi heads will they be similar (obviously less) than the ported ones? by less i mean im pretty sure they wont create the power a ported head would. (assuming)

They may actually be more since they are a 4v head. I'm not sure exactly what the flow numbers of either one are. Just remember that going 4v is a nightmare if you're starting with a GT.

Search for the word "navigator". You'll find the flow numbers Fox Lake advertises. They should hit pretty close to that with a full port job. With your intake, a set of heads that flow like that and a pretty ratty cam set you will net some stunning power.

correct. For the 300-330rwhp level you'll need ported set of PI heads. The better the heads flow the higher on that scale you can get. For 330-375 an as cast set of TFS heads. For 375+ ported TFS heads. Realize that all of those numbers are approximated estimates and will definitely require sufficiently matched cams/intake/exhaust to make it actually happen and a bottom end capable of taking the abuse.

New Guys: don't forget that pre-built shortblocks are usually a pretty good deal unless you plan on doing all your wrench work on the assembly yourself (which doesn't come with a warranty). MMR is always having specials on their 5.4 blocks.

Hmm, the fox lake flow numbers don't even match the MMR numbers they post for 4v head port jobs. I'm looking at possibly sending my heads off to them because their prices seem fair and they will do navi heads when most places wont as well as picking them up and dropping them off for you. They advertise 312/257 on a stage 2 port job and 343/279 on the stage 3. I'm thinking the stage 2s. I think the stage 2 port job would make the car beastly enough, I'm not trying to squeeze every last pony out of this thing, but what do you think the difference in power would be between the 2?

MORE problems!! Fuel pressure drops off after 3800 RPM. This run was only to 4000 RPM. Runs MUCH better than before, I can actually drive it now. I have twin Cobra pumps and I believe one is weak and/or dead altogether. One more problem to dig into!! GRRRRRRRRRR>>>>>>>>>>>

once i get everything together im just going to give the 2v a 150 shot to begin with and move up to 200 if i want later. not doing FI anytime soon. so do yall think flat tops is the way to go to get the most from the nitrous? what compression ratio am i looking at? i still want 93, no race fuel, its just a dd that i will get on every once in a while .

Let me see what i can dig up, i emailed vortech for the part numbers between the 96-98, 99, 00-04 mustang GT's, and the 2v F150's to see if any just so happen to match.

If not im going to buy a couple (prob one of each of the mustang ones) and see how much mnodification is required.

Also on a side note, been emailing back and for with Nick at MHS, keep bugging him guys, the intake looks good he just needs more interest!

Stick with a stage 2 port. You're not going to use it as a race only car so you don't need to go all the way. You'll want all the options if you do MMR which pulls the price up pretty far.

around 11:1 if you leave the piston .120 down the hole. You'll want a multi-stage kit if you get up to 200hp. It's a huge hit to do all at once.

ditto. If you're worried, then -4.5cc 4.6 slugs will get you about 10.5:1

Thumbs up NICE !!!

I love that Ford Blue intake manifold. When you get the chance you ought to do the valve covers to match. That really looks good ... looks like a factory install (but better) !!!

You should post the details here... with only 15 posts one of the other admins is going to eventually zap that classified post. Need 200 to sell, though we let 5.4 swappers slide a bit we usually like to see something past 100. I won't zap it for the moment but I can't prevent another admin/mod from doing so. Get your post count up.

Off topic question... Whats the deal with the headers on the 5.4 to 4.6 swap? is the motor too high up or too low or something? My buddy and I are wondering, cuz if its to high up dont they sell somethin to make it go lower and then just run the regular headers from a 4.6 and just slight fabricate it?

they're raised up and moved outward laterally by an inch each side.

I've been down that road with several brands of headers. They're not easy to modify and you end up with shitty shitty flow and kinked pipes. If it was just up and down we wouldn't have all the issues. The addition of extra width is the issue and what makes modding 4.6 headers a waste of time and terribly expensive. If you can weld and have a TIG welder and the time and the skills then just buy the flanges and a few boxes of bends and some straights and zip some up.

It took months of work to get the pipe routing right with my custom set. Just get FTP's.

Numbers won't change much from the last time it was NA. 300/333 is what we're expecting. Maybe a couple more ponies with the bigger TB and inlet setup. Nitrous power should be around 425/500 on the 125 shot.

we don't frown on it but we have a rule in place to keep sales honest. If you spend the time to make lots of posts then you become sorta family and trust is built. Nonetheless, I'll let a lot of things go in this thread since we're all on the same side and half you know me from other sites.

I'll get those track numbers. Thinking top 12's NA. Mid12's on the juice. I'll have traction issues on the tires I have.

damn...That sucks lol. I was hoping that it was to high or low but i guess if that were the problem the swap would be even easier. Where in the world do i get the FTP headers?? i searched Google and it keeps telling me http lmao. Is there a link or something?
