I'm not the least bit frustrated. The methanol kit is installed and works fine in the testing I've done. I have a couple little odds and ends to do but nothing big or even remotely hard. What I see is an opportunity to retire earlier than I've been projecting and still be able to get another faster mustang. The L swap wasn't really hard it just had a lot of cost to do the way it looked in my head.

I really love the beast but there are other beasts to be had.

BTW... I needed the methanol kit working before driving the car to the tuner in order to not blow the engine into little tiny shards as soon as it went into boost. It's got high compression and a relatively stock chamber and 91 octane is total weak sauce.

I'm hoping one of you hippies buys it.

BTW, existing swap thread contributors can get it for a significant discount. You'll have to PM me if seriously interested to get the special discount (the special deal includes all the extras from deal #2 in my sale thread, just for a lot less)

Well I have been in and out of this thread/forum checking out info on the 5.4L swap, I thought I should post up what I've been doing with a buddie's car.

My friend has an 01 GT, we picked up a 5.4L long block out of a truck that caught fire. Short block was re-built, .020 over, forged pistons, scat rods, stock crank. Set up for a little lower compression (he wants boost later), about 9:1. He picked up an HPS intake from someone on this site (the "*****" intake I believe). Lightly ported stock PI heads, stock valves, Comp 278ah's (degreed to 110).

Plus all the reg bolt-ons, TB, plenum, headers, x pipe, cat-back ,etc.

Got it fired last night, stock computer did not like this set-up, thats for sure. But we swapped some 39 lb. Cobra injectors in and towed it to the dyno/tuner. After some tuning, we finally started putting numbers down, a little lower then expected, but not too bad.

310 HP wheel, 335 ft/lbs. wheel. Very flat torque curve, has over 300 torque between 3500 or so and close to 6K. Peak power hits about 5800 rpm or so, and stays about 300 HP until the rev limiter at 6500.

We'll probably go back after the engine has some miles on it.

are those my reichards or my pro-prods?

stalker: those are good numbers. add some longtubes and you should land at around 330rwhp which is the current record for a 5.4 on PI heads.

For the record: Desktop dyno predicted those numbers with those mods, down to the 1 degree of retard on the cam stretching the power band out to 6100. Good work man.

Oh sweet, I'll have to let him know.

Yeah I swear any shop or "mod motor" guy we talked to gave us **** about degree'ing the cams, but I'm glad we did it. I was hoping he would take the plunge and get some TFS heads for it, but he said for a little bit more he could have the blower and make more.... I myself love n/a cars, but whatever, lol

I finally got around to taking a few pics of the dyno data. Figured I'd post it here if anyone was curious. I wonder what it could run in the 1/4 with some slicks.

A note about polished parts, they shed heat really unevenly. Not a huge concern but a note.

Nice looking VC(s) ... price seems right.

I've been planning on a set being powder coated if it can be done on the plastic factory valve covers.

I'll pass this on to others to see if I can help you sell them.
