how ported are them heads dan?

My headers are done but I'm doubtful at this point that I'll get them to market.

Steve's right though.. just use some FRPP or JBA shorties and save all the trouble. They sound neato but the gains weren't really able to justify the cost.

Engine/Trans:
5.4 2v from 2001 F150. Everything less than 40 miles since install
New head gaskets and bolts
New oil pump and pickup
New water pump
Prof. Products adaptor plates with new intake gaskets
24 Lb. FMS Injectors
C&L plenum
75mm Accufab TB
90mm Lightning MAF
Fadenza aluminum flywheel
New performance clutch
Short shifter
Ford Racing headers
Custom made O/R pipes to SLP Loudmouths
Etc, etc, etc

Exterior:
Mineral gray
Head/Tail blackouts
Mach 1 grill
2.5" lowered
17x10.5 Fr500 black on back with new Nitto 285's
17x9 bullets on the front with good runner

Interior is tan/brown with tan leather
6 disk premium sound

I am sure I am missing a bunch. What it needs. First is a tune. With that motor, that MAF and those injectors this thing is a little confused. I have talked to several people that have done the swap and they confirm. Other than that I have put all OEM parts back on. AC needs to be charged.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you would like to see certain pics let me know, or you can get on the builds section on htownracing.com and see what it looks like.

I need $7,350.00 for it the way it sits. I am in no hurry to sell, and as I get more done the price will go up. As you will see there are hours and hours of blood and sweat in this one.

Middle of the road, stock valves, not huge gains but enough to work quite nicely with a set of Hitech stage II's.... Would gain a bunch with larger valves, I just wasn't gonna go that far at the time....

BTW just got home with my 3v and poked around a bit..... From some quick measurements the intake port looks to be just slightly smaller than a stock PI head cross section, that surprised me. There's a real mismatch of the port roof that could pick up a lot of flow through the system, just have to decide if I'm gonna pull 'em off or not. Also looks like it will gain some nice flow when I remove the IMRC butterflies, at full open they are vertical and the port is tipped a bit, will be a nice addition by subtraction...

I finally got a fitting, it was 1/2 npt not 5/8. Now if it stops raining, I'm gonna slap it on.

I'd be down for a set, I could put a couple hundred down but I can't pull the full price right now.

you would kind of think the demand for 5.4 mustang long tubes would be worth making them,**** kooks makes headers for chevy motors in a fox body, there are chevy k members for mustang.am i missing something here? something as simple as a 5.4 swap into a mustang and there is no aftermarket support for us all ford guys? that is a bunch of bullshit ,i am going to be hounding some of these big headers companies bassani, hooker, mac, jba, bbk,i am going to start calling them and asking for product development ,and when i get some one on the line i am going to let them know that they are turning their heads to an item that could have a big demand if someone had the ***** to produce it,i meant what has the world come to?headers for a chevy engine in a mustang? that should be a war crime right there

really... mine was 5/8. Bizarre. Note to the troops... the fitting may be 1/2" NPT or 5/8" NPT. Morgan, did you get yours really recently? If so, that may be the new standard fitting size for that hole.

ported 3v can move some serious air but even unported they flow as well on the intake as the best P&P PI heads (a bit less exhaust). Getting rid of the CMC plates entirely with a HPS intake for 3v would be cool. See if bob's ready to play. He'd expressed interest and it'll be a simple modification of the 2v intake. You might get a discount on yours .

Get the ball rolling and I bet the market will make itself. Put em up on the corral and people will come crawling out of the woodwork.

Should get mine back (again grrr....) next friday. They had to bake the new hood for a few days to make sure the moisture content was low enough. Whatcha' all think:

In true-blue of course. Trying to figure out how to carry the flat black into it just right

trufiber.com 350 + paint. The guys at TPS said that TruFiber is turning out some really great quality stuff so I took their word for it.

Check this out... found a thread by the guy that tuned my car. See why I had him do it:

Any of you guys got pics of where you ground on the ribs? I sat it on there with no gaskets and no heater hose/pipe and it wont sit flat. Might try it with the old gaskets to see if it will.

IIRC The fitting I used was a 3/8 NPT with a 5/8" barb. Picked it up at the hardware store for a couple bucks.

Well I got the heater hose out of the way and as far as I can tell the intake cleared after I put the gaskets on. But.. my stock fuel rail hates me. its like 2 inches too narrow. I guess I'm gonna cut the factory hoses and get some more fuel injection hose but that can wait till morning..

I have 2 last I saw. I'll get one boxed up and sent to you today. Good excuse to get off my ****.

00Blackstanggt: you should come over and buy my 4.6 HPS intake from me for the incredible deal that only you'll get since you live in the same town as me. You got my digits... gimme a shout.

I pulled the trigger on my first brand new retail purchased nitrous kit. Bought one from dynotunenitrous (www.dynotunenitrous.com) that comes with no bottle or bracket since I already have those parts. Until I get the 2nd stage kit set up and the electrical worked out I'll run 100hp or so through it. 400rwhp and around 500rwtq should more than satisfy the need for speed for the time being.

R3d, I don't mean any disrespect, but shouldn't your numbers be far better than that?
With your mod list couldn't a 4.6L almost hit those numbers?

turned out my heads were basically stock with new valves and not stage 2 fox lake as they were sold to me (got ripped off... 400 bucks, meh). so no... the numbers are right on where they should be. And no... a 4.6 makes nowhere near the average tq of my motor. A 4.6 with my heads/intake/cam/exhaust package would be putting down closer to 300rwhp/290rwtq.

It is under-delivering from what I was hoping but that's all in getting a new set of proper heads from TFS once they're shipping, have those ported to flow all they can and then shoot for 400rw.

don't get me started. Most of the companies you mention had already agreed and then backed out of the deal. The rest told me in no uncertain terms to get fucked AFTER I offered them unlimited use of my car including the already custom made headers that are on it and I even specified that I'd take no compensation for my contribution as long as they'd make at least 20 sets for retail sale. Each would accept, then him and haww and then back out. If you get one to agree, then I'll still let them copy mine but they MUST make 20 pairs for retail sale and provide me with 1 set to use as I wish since they all told me to screw off the last time I tried to make them some cash.

going to be tearing down my 5.4 fairly quickly and i need some help on the internals. i am going to go with forged rods and pistons but need some help deciding whether i want h or i beams and which pistons. i would be highly appreciative for some help in deciding. im thinking that it will be getting some boost later down the road. if you need any more info let me know and thanks for the advice.
