the front pipe comes out and runs along the frame rail 1/8 - 1/4" to much. also the collector hits the frame where it is welded. i'll figure it out tonite and post it up.

Default long tubes

I was just wondering if I could get a set of uncoated long tubes and modify them, if it wasn't too extensive. I used to haev a 65 Mustang that I put a fuel injected 5.0 HO in with an AOD. There were no long tubes for an AOD in that car. A few mods and I had a set of long tubes with o2 bungs that fit *perfect*. Hmmm.....

Same deal really just cut and weld/tweak them to get them to where you need them.

This may be "off topic" but you guys might like. I bought the fuel pump from the Ford Super Car GT. Tore it apart tonight and found out Its a Walbro fuel pump model number: F10000128. Do a google search and you'll see a pdf file showing test results. But i'm not sure what the conversion would be, but it can't be close to the typical need for n/a of 255lph.

Hmm. well the longtubes work its just once they get down near the collector there are rails and what not... that dont allow that correct?

Wondering if i can get a used set of longtubes that are mildsteel or something and modify them, if i could get them at a decent price i would... and then just turn around and re sell them to someone doing a 5.4 swap when i go turbo....

you could but it's a bitch. myillwill has done it, so have a couple others. I'm having a set custom made.

Without ANY accessories. Call it 400bhp with on an optimistic scale. 7000rpm on a 4.6 is basically 6000 on a 5.4 if you're going by piston speed. I ran my 5.4 to 6100 during one dyno run. Sounded like music. LOUD *** MUSIC.

To have it done costs about 1500 bucks to start. It's a bitch.

my build list is this so far:
02 navi engine internally stock for now (I know I know under 6200 rpm)
Sullivan or karKraft intake with 750cfm dp carb
plate n20 kit on a small shot (50-75)
frpp shorties
mezgier wp
a/c delete
rear seat delete
torq convetor w/ a 3000stall and shift kit???
external tranny cooler
gears (not sure which ones yet I belive 2.73's are in there now)
under drive pullies
set of runners and drag radials
I might do a aluminum drive shaft and flywheel as well but i am thinking its not worth the cash..?

looking to go loooow 12's but am really not sure what it will run or put down as there are not many mustangs doing this swap....At least from what I know. Any way from what I have read r3d know his stuff and looks like I can learn a few thing from here....Anyone else going 4v in here?

well, the JBA shorties do fit if you lower the motor and k-member about 2 inches as one unit. then you can get to the top bolts easy.

Well I just got my motor in, and I should of went with my first instinct of putting the tranny in later. I had to drop one side of the K-member to clear the canton oil pan. See if I can get afew ends tied up this afternoon.

Sent a second email to Kooks. They pinged me back on the first email but seem to have dropped it. I'll chase it down and see if we can't get these things made yet.

i'm sorry to see the longtubes come and go so quickly. if the HPS starts shipping soon i may be back into it again. i just couldn't pull the trigger on LT's without the car in the swap process.

what i, and others need, is a good solid guarantee that the parts are on the market and will stay on the market untill the time comes and people can get them.

the narrow windows of part accessibility just aren't helping much.

i most likely wont be in the first round of HPS buyers, but i would like the comfort of knowing they'll still be there when i can do the swap.

the same with LT's, i'll buy them once they are on the shelves and i know that they'll be there when i need them.

What kind of oil did everyone use for break-in? I was thinkin about using motorcraft 5w20 with some zinc addative. But its synthetic blend, and I've always been told that'll keep the rings from breaking in properly.

i used advance auto 5w-30 cheap stuff and on sleepingGT's i'm using orielly's 5w-30 for the break in. i was told that you need mineral-based oil to break-in.

pics are up:

Once we have some dyno numbers and fitment info from the stangs the truck guys will be able to get into it pretty fast.

EDIT: A couple design notes. Notice that the runner inlets are right at the roof of the plenum, and the plenum volume is looking like fully 6-7L or so. The runners have been chopped off at the roof to shorten them, the main entrance has been radius-ed a bit, runner entrances are way smoother, the runners are straighter. Looks like you can still port it if needed but it should be fine as cast after a port match to the heads to be used.

We should all be thanking bob for coming through.

Headers are making progress as well. I just had to buy a set of junk heads to go with my mockup block and k-member for RennWorks to mess with. They needed a mockup setup too I guess. Working within the confines of my car seems to be a PITA.
