Default I need advice

Well a few months back I blew my motor and I am about ready to rebuild or replace. My question is what to do. I found a 4.6 4V out of a 05 Aviator with 60 k on it and it comes with long tubes and harness for 1300.00 I know I will need a flywheel. I was planing on stroking my current block to a 5.0 and getting the new trick flow heads and cams and later down the road putting a blower on it. I am just wanting to know what you would do. I like the idea of the 4 valve and a big *** blower but I also like the idea of a high HP 2 valve, I do not know much about the Aviator motor compaired to a 01 Cobra motor and the only info I can find is the intake is different.

He is my current set up. 01 GT 4.6 SOHC Stage 2 clutch, upper and lower intake plemun by PP with a 75MM TB cold air and SLP Loud mouth 1. Lowered with pro Kit. Just thought this might help with the decision making process.

I am planing on replacing the K-Member while I am doing the rebuild or swap. I am looking at getting 400-450 at the wheels after I get the blower. Any help would be great.

I would look in the 5.4 Swap sticky. Tons of information and knowledgable people who can guide you in that direction. You can build a good 5.4 2v motor for a decent price and get good performance with a lot of potential. I would like to someday build an aluminum 5.4 block with either 4v heads or the TrickFlow 2v heads and keep it N/A since I do open track.

I think it comes down to this, how much of the work can you do yourself and what is your budget?
Your goal is not that high and could be attained with a fresh motor and mitrous. I like your stroker idea with forged guts and Trick Flow heads. You already have the headers. You just need to choose forced induction or bottle fed so you can get your pistons.
I vote stroker with 11:1 pistons, TrickFlow heads, Victor Jr. intake and nitrous.
Very important Do you have 93 octane fuel in your area?

Well I can do most of the work myself just not the machine work. I have wanted to build a high HP NA 2 valve just to **** of my LS1 buddies. The only thing is a 4 valve could be fun too. When I came accross the 4v motor it got me thinking and just wanted to get some opions on it. To answer your question my budget is about 2000-2500. I would like to keep it as low as possible. I have had several 500HP LT1's and a couple of 400 HP fox bodies and just love the style of the new edge stang and want to prove to my buddies that it is possible to get 450 out of a 4.6 2v on a low buget. So with that being said what do you think it will take to get there or should I go with the 4v and ditch the 2v idea.

Thanks for the help.

I don't think you're going to get anything with 450hp for 2000-2500.

The cheapest way to do that would be to get a 2v and throw a small 62-66mm turbo on it, or do a procharger setup. That'll get you pretty close to 450rwhp, but its just a matter of how long the stock setup will handle the boost.

There are two options. Sticking to a budget, and building something half-assed (don't take that offensively). Or building it right and getting a little more past your budget.

The best setup to go with IMO, would be a 4v with some ported heads, a custom turbo grind cam, and a Precision 6262 (or anything 60mm+ with a bigger A/R) turbo. Then just making sure you have the crank and pistons that can handle it. But at that point you are much farther than 2500 bucks. Even without the turbo.

Well here is the brake down. 2005 Aviator engine 60k miles (4.6, aluminum block, same heads as 03/04 cobra, dual runner intake similar to FR500) also comes with: Flowtech long tube headers for 99-04, o2 extensions, 99/01 cobra harness, part of the harness on the aviator motor, 2 sets of coil packs.
That will put me 1300 out of pocket. I am looking at getting a aftermarket k-member and flex plate also what else would I need? Do you think it is do able for under 2500? I will be happy with 325-350 until I can get some cams and a different intake.

While you're there I'd say to go ahead and try to get a T-56 swapped in with the Navi block.

Then you'll have a pretty stout setup to later on build it as a high compression N/A or nitrous motor, or also being able to slap on a small turbo or small procharger and make an easy 450rwhp with boost.

I would say you'd be making near 290rwhp with the 4.6 and some LTs, minor bolt-ons, and a tune. You'll make similar to what a Mach 1 will make, just for reference. Because thats basically what you're buying (4.6 aluminum block with 03-04 cobra heads).
