Default New Gt owner need advice

I just recently bought a 2003 Gt. I was wondering about several things. Hypertech worth the money? Longtubes or shorties? X-pipe or h-pipe?

Nope. Go SCT or at the very least diablo...both will give you MUCH more adjustability later down the "mod" road.

Both give you gains, but LT's are the way to go for the most power. Shorties aren't worth the cost IMO, when LT's are not much more for bigger gains.

Make sure you NEVER ask this question again Both give gains...the H generally more low end torque, and the X generally more top end HP. I would base that decision on what you think sounds best. There's also a prochamber to throw in that mix too, for another type of sound. Usually that question just opens a can of worms, and a pissing match starts.

Also, since the question will arise soon I'm sure these are basic suggestions:
-4.10's or 4.30's...your gas mileage won't suffer like you think over 3.73's and you'll pick up better acceleration over lower (numerically) gears.
-CAI's are basically all show and no go. The ones that post the largest gains are A)Fenderwell style, or have a good heat shield from the engine B)usually plastic C)do nothing more than smooth out the bends in the stock intake...K&N FIPK is a good investment
-Get rid of the air silencer (its attached to the air filter box, and juts into the fenderwell, dont worry about it if you change the intake) you'll pick up .538759873 RWHP :icon_chee
-Don't even THINK of upgrading the MAF or Injectors until you hit over 300RWHP...you'll just cause more headaches. They don't pose any benefit until that point (300 is a low estimate for the MAF too)
-Don't lower the car any more than 1.5"...your struts will wave bye-bye sooner than later if you do.
-If you ask about one of those tornado thingys that you put in your intake pipe to "swirl" the air, I will come over and shoot your dog...lol j/k
-Biggest bangs for the buck (IMHO) = 4.10's, Throttle body, Plenum, Underdrive pullies, and mid-pipe/headers. Other people will see that differently, so thats MY opinion

Above all...have fun, ask questions, and don't subscribe to the theory that the advertised HP rating that manufacturers give you in thier ads is true...ask people who have the part and have dynoed it.

I can vouch for this. Mine is at 2" and I replace struts like tanks of gas.... but I drive really hard. I hope the SpringTech struts and shocks I just put on will do a better job.
