Default Mach 1 motor

Hey guys....Im probably picking up an 03 Mach 1 in the nexk couple of weeks and was interested in putting a Vortech on it. What kind of horse power can the stock Mach 1 internals handle before I start running into problems? I know I need to upgrade the axles to 31 splines but wasnt sure on the motor. Thanks

Mainly depends on the tune and driver. I'd keep it low 400's until you can build it, just my opinion

420-440rwhp would be the max I would go, and I am on the more adventurous side.

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Mach 1 motor IDENTICAL to the 03/04 Cobra motor, sans blower? If so, that motor should handle 500-550HP easy, as this seems to be the max-out point for the Cobra's.

No it is not the same motor...The mach 1 motor can handle 450rwhp max. People are pushing into 800rwhp on the 03-04 cobra's.

Not at all. Its basically a 01 Cobra motor with a shaker. No forged pistons or good rods.

There are some over on svtperformance pushing 450-470 on the stock mach1 motor. Not saying this is safe but it's being done. Every car is different...who really knows when they will let go? Just tell your tuner you want to yield on the safe side.

And there are guys who spray 175-200hits on stock 2v cars with the NX plate kit. Its a crap shoot as to when the rods or pistons will say lolz got2go.

Arent the mach 1s aluminum blocks and the terminators iron? Not sure on the internals but I was pretty sure the mach was not up to the same standard. Well thanks for the imput/thoughts...picking up the new mach in 11 days!!!!!!

Congrats on the mach man.

Also for some reason i thought the 01 cobra had forged pistons. Dont know why i always thought it was same as the 03-04 just without the blower... learn something new every day!

Co-worker friend of mine bought a supercharged GT (he's the type to try and one up people), anyway he brags about how much faster his car is and trying to convince me to get a Supercharger for my Mach1. Before I go out and spend 5 grand (or whatever the exact amount is), i need to find out all the specifics about other upgrades that NEED to be made and recommended ones when adding a SC.

Most of what you need comes with a kit. Things like tuning, and a fuel system are needed for a blower/turbo application and some nitrous applications.

The motor itself can last a very long time with 9lbs of boost thrown at it from a turbo or supercharger.. I'm saying 9, because its the most common that I see. Some people go up to 11 and don't have any sort of issues.

your co-worker friend needs to grow up and you need to ignore him. enjoy YOUR car the way YOU want to, not to satisfy someone else's ego.

yeah, it all depends on your "tuner" as far as the hp. i have an 08 gt, ive had the vortech v3 s/trim s/c. on the dyno, it is 480hp/465ftlbs tq. although i dont track it
i do play when the time is right, from light to light.

The 3v motors are bit different then the 2v/4v ones. They are said to be good in the 450rwhp rang.

My first piece of advice is to go to the mach 1 registry forums and ask your questions. I'm not suggesting people on this site don't know what they are talking about because they do, but those guys know everything about th mach's. www.mach1registry.com

Without getting into the internals it's rough to push the mach to it's max with a blower. The mach also has higher compression so be aware of that as well.

The mach motor is similar to the 01 cobra engine, but it's not the same engine.

my advice would not be to put a blower on it primarily due to the high compression and un-forged bottom end.

I'd slap a 100 - 150hp shot of nitrous on your car and watch your buddy go all gaga as you fly by his ***. Figure you'll be up around 400/440 or so with just a little ol 100 shot. You can use a 100 shot without worry and you can still have your normal just regular fast mach1 when your buddy isn't pushing you for a race. A 150 shot should be just as safe but your tune becomes more important as you up the shot. With a 150 shot you're well within the safe zone for your motor. Since nitrous is not always on you don't always have to worry about dealing with it

A solid bitchin nitrous kit can be had for a grand. A blower is closer to 4-5 grand with the intercooler YOU WILL MOST CERTAINLY NEED.

Or you can tell your friend that you're happy with your car and he can choke on your ballz.
