If you look at the intake system that starts from the throttle body all the way down you see its connected to one bolt. Undo that bolt and pull the system out and its a little rubber piece that goes into the fender that you can pull off if you want to.

Default K&N

If you also replace the old filter with a K&N or similar filter, you can get about 4 hp right there. You'll hear the air coming into the filter box (that's why they call the snorkel a "silencer") now, which most drivers actually like.

I have an 02 vert with a CAI (cold air intake) system. Before you buy an expensive K&N filter and tear off your silencer, look over the CAI threads and see if that might be what you want. For about $160 you can get a first rate system (which will include the new filter, of course) which will pick up about 10 or 12 hp total and add some mod-looks under the hood.

luck

Don't think you will get 10 to 12 HP with just a CAI.

Default Try DeMolet

Check out the www.demolet.com units. If I were buying today, this would be my choice. If you read the magazines, these have been winning "shootout" comparisons vs the competition.

I would not expect a stone stock GT to get the same results as a healthy 03 Cobra, but still....

7 or 8 rwhp anyway. More with other mods (tb, plenum, ported heads, etc ad infinitum).

Better/quicker response in general, too.

Worth about 1 hp according to article in Muscle Mustangs. Read a 5.0 article that claimed a bit more (2.4 as I recall).

Not huge, certainly.
