GEARS AND GET THE 4.10s! Dont worry about the rpm, its not that bad. I wish I had gone 4.10. But youll need a way to correct the speedometer, so just use a speedcal. Tuners arent all that great anywho...

Listen and keep this in mind.

If your gonna get a power adder such as SC ot turbo, dont get the 4.10 get 3.73 . otherwise 4.10 is the way to go if your gonna stay NA

How different is the drivability of a 3.73 and a 4.10. And also, is there a disadvantage to picking one gear over the other.

i waited to buy my gears after i got the hand held tuner (that way I could adjust the speedo myself). but i think both mods are definately worth it. i asked not long ago should i go with 3.73s or 4.10s.. well i chose 4.10s because i decided when someone is in the car with me and want me to get on it, i want it to pull as hard as possible

If I was you Id get a xcalibrator with a mail order tune, then get your gears and adjust the mail order tune. If you get the gears first without adjusting the speedo then your speed will be off as well as how many miles are on the car.

:sign5: for every mile i do, i add an extra 1/4 mile on the odometer. i cant be driving around much now until my xcal arrives.

Performance wise Gears will net the greatest effect. For a 2 valve I would suggest 3.90 or 4.10 gears.

Like some have suggested though you may want to wait and save up for both at the same time to correct the speedometer when the gears get installed, that way the speedo is not off. You don't want to waste money on a SpeedCal....and turn around a month later and get a tuner that could've performed the same function. (I for one don't like spending money twice.)

Don't forget you have to pay for installation as well, and gear installs aren't cheap.

www.gefracing.com That's where I got my gears and it was the cheapest place at the time. I think they still are.

That's Cool. If you can get them from MT for the same price then its just a matter of waiting.

I suppose my haste is just looking back in retrospect wondering what the heck i did before I had gears. Probably the best Mod I ever did.

Don't Fear the Gear
