Gears!!! auto or manual?
3.73 if manual.
4.10 if auto

GEARS AND GET THE 4.10s! Dont worry about the rpm, its not that bad. I wish I had gone 4.10. But youll need a way to correct the speedometer, so just use a speedcal. Tuners arent all that great anywho...

Listen and keep this in mind.

If your gonna get a power adder such as SC ot turbo, dont get the 4.10 get 3.73 . otherwise 4.10 is the way to go if your gonna stay NA

:icon_thum

Badfish 07-04-2005 01:51 PM

no! 4.10s!

brady281 07-04-2005 06:03 PM

How different is the drivability of a 3.73 and a 4.10. And also, is there a disadvantage to picking one gear over the other.

Badfish 07-04-2005 06:07 PM

i have 4.10s and drive with em everyday...some people here drive on the highway for 30+ miles (or so) every day...and just about everyone who has gotten 3.73s for N/A wishes they had gottem 4.10s

brady281 07-04-2005 06:32 PM

4.10 it is then..

csledd 07-04-2005 10:36 PM

i waited to buy my gears after i got the hand held tuner (that way I could adjust the speedo myself). but i think both mods are definately worth it. i asked not long ago should i go with 3.73s or 4.10s.. well i chose 4.10s because i decided when someone is in the car with me and want me to get on it, i want it to pull as hard as possible :D

timstpetefl 07-05-2005 07:18 AM

410's even if your gunna get a blower later in life?

brady281 07-05-2005 10:16 AM

Yea im am just going to go all motor. But i might just get the diablo first just so i can fix my speedo when i get my gears done. Both i will get sooner or later when i have some free money.

03gtmustang 07-05-2005 12:52 PM

If I was you Id get a xcalibrator with a mail order tune, then get your gears and adjust the mail order tune. If you get the gears first without adjusting the speedo then your speed will be off as well as how many miles are on the car.

Lunati 07-05-2005 12:58 PM

:sign5: for every mile i do, i add an extra 1/4 mile on the odometer. i cant be driving around much now until my xcal arrives.

Performance wise Gears will net the greatest effect. For a 2 valve I would suggest 3.90 or 4.10 gears.

Like some have suggested though you may want to wait and save up for both at the same time to correct the speedometer when the gears get installed, that way the speedo is not off. You don't want to waste money on a SpeedCal....and turn around a month later and get a tuner that could've performed the same function. (I for one don't like spending money twice.)

Don't forget you have to pay for installation as well, and gear installs aren't cheap.

gear installs range from 200-300 dollars..usually

Lances03SVT 07-05-2005 04:38 PM

Had mine done for $100 :)

MattJ 07-05-2005 04:39 PM

Mine are getting done for 60.

good luck getting some frpp 4.10 gears, MT just sent me an email saying they're out of stock! /cries in the corner

i hate to do this but does anyone know anywhere else i could get frpp 4.10s for a good price that has them in stock now? i already asked off work monday and tuesday to install them :(

Lightning247 07-05-2005 04:49 PM

www.gefracing.com That's where I got my gears and it was the cheapest place at the time. I think they still are.

csledd 07-05-2005 04:49 PM

where do they have them in their store? i cant find them :(

blah nevermind, i found them.. for $180.00. forget it i guess ill just wait the two weeks out :(

Lightning247 07-05-2005 05:03 PM

...why its cheaper then Mustangtuning.coms listings....

csledd 07-05-2005 05:08 PM

naw, i can get them for the same price from MT. id rather just wait and get them from MT, their site looks terrible :(

Lightning247 07-05-2005 05:13 PM

That's Cool. If you can get them from MT for the same price then its just a matter of waiting.

I suppose my haste is just looking back in retrospect wondering what the heck i did before I had gears. Probably the best Mod I ever did.

Don't Fear the Gear

csledd 07-05-2005 05:55 PM

lol yeah, i was really looking forward to it next week :( oh well maybe they'll get them sooner than 2 weeks
