Default Accel Coils

I recently bought a set of Accel coils from rpmoutlet.com. They are fine when the car starts running its fine. Then once its warmed up they start missing very bad to poiny where car studders. My buddy has an 04 gt mustang and he ordered a typhoon intake manifold. When he received it it had broke and stripped out bolt holes. I want to know if anyone else had these problems. I payed good money for the accels and i cant even run them. Any help would be awsome www.rpmoutlet.com just gives me the run around. Thanx

Welcome aboard....

It always sucks to buy parts to only get a bad result. Some people have had bad experiences with RPMOutlet. well if anything the coils should be under warranty from accel, if you cant get any headway with RPM try accel. so long as you have a proof of purchase and they are actually defective...which accel will check 1st before sending anything to you new. But I think you are going to take it on the chin.

Now comes the "shitting in corn flakes" part. Buying new coils is a waste of money unless you are pushing serious ponies....like with a super charger at ridiculous boost. The stock coils are more than adequate into the mid 300's or even higher if I remember correctly. your buddy with the typhoon intake too, waste of cash unless you have power adder, or heads, cams and full bolt-ons with a tune. Chalk it up to experience on this one. A lot of guys here can help guide you with future mods that would benefit you the most. also now that you are member...use the search feature, 99% of the time any question you will ask has been asked with various threads on that topic...trust me.

gears...no doubt..get some gears. I have 4.10's and love them, some guys have 3.73's and love those there is also the option of 3.90's. putting in gears is like adding 40-50 hp to your car, trust me. Dont fear the gear, do some searches on gears here. Aside from that you have a good start going, but the 160 thermo is kind of low, 180 is really optimal. as far as having the car tuned, call around to local dyno shops and see which tuner they use, SCT or diablo. You said you already have a diablo tuner so try and find a dyno shop that uses that brand. If no one around you uses diablo and only SCT, search for a used unlocked SCT xcal2, with the Xcal3 out now the xcal2 would be way cheaper and it does pretty much the same thing. I think the only benefit of the Xcal3 is that it can hold more custom tunes.

Hey Matt, do you have old or crappy plugs in the car now or did you put new ones in when you replaced the coils? Bump the gap up to .042 NGK's are a good choice and with you bottle you should be 2 heat ranges colder.

RPM sells alot of stuff, its just thier support SUCKS. I had a problem with a Autometer tach from them, got the run around so I just sent Autometer an email. I mentioned RPM and the guy at Autometer kinda laughed and told me to send the tach in and they would take care of it. 3 days later I had a new Cobalt on the porch.

With your mods a set of 4.10's will bring your car to life. Good Luck!

I replaced plugs with the NGK - TR55IX Iridium plugs. I have never messed with the gap.
