Default 4.6/5.0 swap?

has anyone ever swapped thier 4.6 out for a 5.0 pushrod engine? would there be more advantages to this or more disadvantages?

The only real advantage w/ the 302 is aftermarket support. However, give it time and the Modular engine's aftermarket will be at the same level. Other than that, you are only gaining displacement capability but you start out w/ less potentially due to the 500hp limit on the block (stock, not aftermarket blocks). Just stick w/ the Mod and stroke it out to 5.0.

all kinds of race teams do that in AI and AS classes. I wouldn't do it on the street. Just not worth all the hassles for an engine that has 25 years of its own damned problems. You've got a 4.6 if you want more get a blower.
