So, out of curiosity, what mods would you need to put into a '99-04 GT to make it beat a 99-02 Cobra, for the least amount of money possible?

just about nothing for 1/4 mile action. 99-01 cobras on average turn in pretty much the same times stock for stock thanks to IRS. Add a tune and exhaust to a GT and you're right there with them on the 1320. I've raced many a 99-01 snake in my 01 and 03 gt's on the street and always held right with them or beat them from a dig thanks to the IRS's deficiencies. When I had my IRS and raced NA cobras they'd always beat me.

hm... some "upgrade"

So you're paying an extra 10k for a car that is a better DD with an extra 60hp. Don't get me wrong... but wouldn't someone be more likely to use a GT as a DD than a Cobra? I can't imagine people who buy Cobras are thinking "This thing is gonna turn really well on the way to Walmart!"

cobra is simply up-trim. When you get to a point in your life when you have the finances to pick which one you want and not affect your budget, you'll understand the choice.

I'm 28 with a clean sheet and I pay $130 a month. When I traded my GT in for the Mach my insurance went from $115 to $130 a month. I'm assuming cause the HP rating was higher. That's also full coverage and $500 deductible.
