Default GMS or BBK Throttle Body? Or New Throttle Body At All?

Hey everyone,
I've got some extra cash coming my way, so of course I immediately thought of MT.com and how they could most easily and quickly help me spend it!

So, right now, all I've got in the mod dept. are SLP Loudmouths. While I'm sure most, if not all of you will say "X-Pipe!!!", that's not looking like something for me right now. Mainly because the mods that I do first, are ones that I know I can do myself, or at least feel comfortable attempting to do myself. While I think I'm capable of doing an X-Pipe install, I don't have the "work environment" at home to do that.

So, here's what I've got in mind. SCT XCalibrator 2, JLT Performance CAI. That leaves me will still mor spending money. (Approx $400 - $450 maybe pushing $500) Since I was going to be right there anyways with installing the JLT CAI, I thought maybe upgrading the Throttle Body would be a good thing too. First off, do you think it would be?

Second, if so, can you kind of explain the difference(s) between the GMS and BBK models sold thru MT.com? I guess specifically, what about the GMS model justifies a price that's $155.00 more than the BBK one?

I dont know much about the new GT's. But Id get gears and have a shop install them instead of getting a t/b.

the difference between the two T/B is that BBK, even though MT says they have not had one returned, is supposidly having problems with the gearing on the butterflies. That is mentioned in the GMS liturature on the MT site.

Me, If I put one on. I plan to wait and see what Accufab comes out with. Was told they should be releasing theres soon.

A lot of people will say they add nothing to your car. But it makes sense, if you put a higher flo exhaust on your car. A T/B would then allow more air into your car.

just my opinion

If you have that much $$, I would definately put in gears. I had mine installed for $400 parts and labor, and it is by far the best mod I have made up to now. I know how ya feel, wanting to spin the wrench and say you did it yourself, but the performance gains per $ spent needs to be looked at closely. You will not feel much of a difference with just a cold air intake and TB. Yes, throttle resposne will be quicker, but your car will feel the same otherwise. And let me tell ya, 4.10's and a loudmouth catback sounds sinister.

Another vote for gears here man. Go with 3.90's or 4.10's. But if you do decide to get gears, PLEASE look through MT's official gear thread lol....

You're not gonna feel the same kind of "seat of the ***" improvement with CAI or Throttle Body as you will with Gears.

As much as I loved my 70mm T/B and JLT CAI, I agree, go for gears. If you don't plan on doing a power adder down the road, go aggressive with 3.90's or higher. If you're lookin into a power adder, be more conservative and get 3.55's or 3.73's.

Granatelli Motor Sports is a design robbing second class cr4p maker. Do not support them or expect anything but pain and heart ache from GMS junk.

Do a search for granatelli on any of the boards. You'll see a thousand complaints of catastrophic failure, poor workmanship, poor quality materials, bad fit, warranty nightmares, etc...

You have been cautioned.
