Default SVT Focus Fuel Pump

I just picked up an SVT focus fuel pump today and I'm planning on dropping it in on Saturday. Anyone ever install one before? Should I expect to run into any problems or have to make any mods to anything (wiring, etc.)? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Use good magnetic tools to avoid dropping the screws into the gas tank.

its a direct drop it, took me an hour and half by myself. Very easy to do, just take your time. Also dont do it with a full tank run the tank as low as possible.

They outflow the stock pump and are used in power adder applications.

i am when i am not spraying my car. why are you worried about driveabilty? its the same as stock our pumps are vaiable voltage pump they kick up the power as it needs more fuel. so the pressure when at idle and what not is the same. Only when it really needs more fuel does it go to full power and thats when the focus pump puts out a ton more fuel then the stocker. its not a performance upgrade if you think you will gain power, you will not.

Don,t forget that you are supposed to dril out the inlet hole, at the check valve to 11/32, to enable more flow. My Procharger installation manual states this.

From what i have seen its not needed. You can, but you dont "need" to drill the basket.

Thanks for all the info. I did read that you can drill out the basket if you want to...but it isn't necessary. I'm only running a 100 shot and I don't plan on going any higher...so I probably won't drill it out.

In my experience a loud pump is usually a pretty good indicator that it's going bad. But if it has been that way for a long time...might just be a loud pump??

No hole needed. Just plug and play. Plus if it is done nowwhen you, or if you go F/I then you'll have a good pump.

would the pump make your car run better on an empty tank? Since it is a stronger pump

I realized that about half way between empty and the first quarter my car seems to be running a bit more sluggish.

you should never run a power adder setup with this pump at under 1/4 of a tank as you run the risk of draining the bucket dry and going VERY lean

Sage advice. Mooey important. Most blower kits have a note to that effect in the manual/instructions.

This is because you get sediments at the bottom of your tank, when your low on gas the sediments are at a higher solute concentration, thus your sucking crud into your motor, resulting in that "sluggish" feeling your talking about. I never let my Pony get below a 1/4 just to avoid that problem

That's when you pull the tank and completely drain and clean it. That way you don't have to worry about the sediments.

I run mine from full to nearly totally empty every tank. I change my filter every 12000 miles. Usually that's enough to keep from ever having sediment issues. My car is maintained WAY more often than the typical stang though so puck what works for you.
