Default My idling is really weird..

I bought a used mustang gt 02 with 60,000 miles on it. It has a very strange idle to it.. and I never owned a mustang before so I don't know if its number but the idle is really really low. it normal idles at 1,000 rpm and sometimes it drops to 500 and sounds like its about die and then goes back up to 1,000.

yeah.. shouldn't really do that, our cars have an annoying IAC (Idle Air Control) valve that likes to get dirty/go bad. I'd check into it.

I also have some weird idling issues but yeah.. lol

It's located on the front of your plenum, it has 2 bolts that hold in on, a plug on the round end of it and has a hose going from the intake tube to it....buy a new one, cleaning it is just a temp fix for it...you can get them from Autozone or Adavance for about $50. The new piece will come with a new gasket and it's not that hard to change.

All you need is an 8mm wrench for socket to take it off.

Hope this helps.

That might not be because of your stage 2 cams and valve springs, extensive moddifications and weird tune though, right?
lol

It's the IAC, do a search anywhere and you'll see that you have the same symptoms.

hunting idle is almost always IAC. Ultra low idle/ trying to die is usually a vacuum leak.

it's the IAC I just cleaned the one on my girls '00 gt about 45min ago and it runs perfect idling. Before it was doing the same at idle or sometimes cut off....1k-then die to 500 then rev back to 1k...now it's constant at 900.
