Default Need an opinion on TB and headers

I have read in a few places that throttle bodies only allow more air flow and does not increase your horsepower. But every place that sells them, in thier description they mention a 10 HP gain just by bolting it on.

Basically the same question about headers.

Do these parts add horsepower? Or just not worth the money and time?

Yeah they do help a little bit. I noticed my gain at about 2800 rpm with the throttle body/plenum combo. Will you get 10 rwhp? No probably not. Real world figures would be around 6-8 rwhp.

If you are doing headers, do long tubes or nothing. The work involved is exactly the same. While you do need a shorty midpipe with long tubes, the results are better than shorties with a regular sized xpipe. Long tubes give more than shorties. Shorties usually give a 10-15 rwhp increase on a good day, and longtubes are 20 give or take. Ive seen results a tad higher though, too.

Combining a throttle body and plenum combo will help each other out with a header job resulting in better power increases togeather, compared to individually.

with a 75mm TB and plenum, CAI, LTs, O/R X-pipe, and cat-back I made 270rwhp and 306rwtq

they work much better in combinations

Is the Accufab TB/Plenum combo the best way to go?

It's definitely not a bad combo, a little pricier than others though.

I love mine, the only thing I would recommend over it really is something like Foxlakes P51 but that's expensive lol

They have been in a dyno proved shootout between all the other combos with the highest results. Yeah they gain the most but buy any combo and youll be alright. 1-2hp isnt worth the extra money in all reality unless it IS to you.

I just put on BBK today(pics here @ out with the old...in with the new post). Not sure why, I've used BBk tb for years and have never had any probs. I have used one from Ed-brock(89 5.0L) and had to trash it, all kinds of probs, so I tried a BBk and have used ever since. I think it's more of a pref.
