Default Attention SCT Xcal2 Users

Attention SCT Xcal2 Users:
I Just want everyone with an SCT Xcal2 that DO NOT have the Advantage firmware on their handheld tuner to know. SCT just released today the new firmware for the Xcal2. So I suggest if you dont have the Advantage firmware on your Xcal2 to do the download/Update it will allow you to do some features that were promised to you a while back ago.

Everything you need to know to do the download and Update is located here:

Before anyone does this there are a few things you need to do to make this successful and trouble free:

1. Return your car to its stock tune.

2. Make sure you you have downloaded the LiveUpdate2 and the new 1.11 firmware.

3. Make sure your power and USB cords wont be disconnected or interupted.

I'm doing mine now and the cool thing is the On-Device Datalogging. This will come in handy at the track so I dont have to bring my computer with me.

I've been watching the SCT boards and I can help you with the download if you need a more in depth walk through. There is a issue with the computer recognizing the download another thing you can do is do a save target as and make sure the right file is downloaded. Because it's looking for a certain one I cant remember the file type off the top of my head but its one I didnt know about untill a few weeks ago.

Tuners are real good especially with stock automatics. As well as cars that need to get their tune straightened out. Everyone that has one will admit to their mustangs running better. But as for some your better off waiting for gears or untill you have more serious mods. That way you get the most of it.

I actually just put back in my 93 tune for my 01 auto GT today. I was on stock tune for the winter but Spring is coming so I put on my tune.

I only gain 5 more RWHP with the tune, but since I'm an auto, well let me tell ya, it feels like a lottttttt more.

hmmmmm mines a 1.4.1 or something like that. Only difference is you have the 3rd upgrade of the firmware and I have the 4th. I t should work unless Modular Depot really locked the hell out of it which shouldnt be the case I think its a file read problem. Well theres 2 things you can do.....

1. Call up SCT and or Modular Depot maybe they have a better way to help you.

2. Worse comes to worse you can send the unit directly , but you will need a RMA number, they cannot give the out to end customers, so you will have to contact Modular Depot to have them get the rma number for you. After this, they can update the tuner, and send it back to your dealer. A note of the problem, and documentation that you want to keep the tunes on the device, willl be noted on the rma number.

Well heres the thing and this also p***** me off as well was the early batches were never really given the user end ajustability unfotunitely and theres been a semi-war between SCT and the people who baught it as false advertisement.....kinda true but there was a loophole they couldnt be accounted for that...anyways untill the Advantage firmware came out which is on all the new ones and thats why the price got bumped up those new models do everythign that was advertised.

Now on the other things you said were we are able to fudge around with our custom tune but there were some risks in doing so using the extreme tune software they provide. You would have to know what the tuner did before you made the changes. basically the only safe thing you could do was change the gears you had and know about it. I didnt even both screwing with my shift points because I really have no experience with that but the other things that you could never know about your tune by looking at it was the amount of timing added or the A/F ratio. So you'd always be guessing at it..........and thats the whole low down behind that

but I doubt its your X-cal 2 I just read up and a few ppl with the 1.3 firmware have completed the download

Unfortunitely you and I both got the short end of the stick

I placed my order right when the PRE-ORDER batch came out. I know I was pretty high up towards the top of the list on owning an XCAL 2. I wouldnt be suprised if I was the first here on MT. Modular Depot? No probably not...

your pretty close if it doesnt say 1.1 on the firmware you werent the very frst but very close. just think of it this way theres been 11 upgrades then they skipped to the 2nd version the 2.0s right now they are on the 2.9 known as the advantage firmware
