Default What Engine Oil ya use?

Right now i have 46,000 miles on my 02 GT. I still bring my car to the dealership for oil changes. So I still use the same motocraft oil.

Does anyone use any other type of oil? and why? is there a difference in engine performce if I switch to say.....Royal purple engine oil..?

whats teh 101 on engine oil brands and types mostly used for our modded GT's...?

I've used valvoline in every vehicle I've owned. Just never had any probs with it. Just stay away from "Yellow Death" (pennzoil)

I use Amsoil and its pretty expensive but I race my car at the drag strip and take it to the road course. I consider it cheap insurance, and I run Amsoil gear lube and trans fluid as well. Amsoil is THE best oil you can get. Mobile 1 would be my second choice. Its fully synthetic and its fairly cheap.

Motorcraft 5w-20 Premium Synthetic Blend........I got sick of using mobile 1 that costed $6 a quart when this stuff is like $2.00 a quart...and I change it like every 3,500-5,000 anyways

Same here Ive always used the factory oil because the owner before me used the same and I want to find out how long the engine lasts with the same brand oil in it for its entire life. Ive pushed the engine hard and it always seems to run smoothly, never smoke, and with a smooth idle. So I guess that all you can really ask.

Agreed. I went from a 30 dollar AT LEAST oil change to a 13 dollar one at most. Just dont see the point for my car to run synthetic.

The only difference between synthetic and a synthetic blend is mostly the lifespan....but who really cares about 3,000 miles more think about it I can do 2 oil changes oil and filter with a synthetic blend cheaper than it costs for JUST the full synthetic oil and no filter.......do the math ppl

Maybe you should learn more about how engines are maintained.

I've typically used Mobil 1 in the past, but I think I may try the Royal Purple.

I may catch hell for this, but oh well. But, if you want a good deal on oil changes, go to Wal-Mart. Yeah, yeah I know, "I'm not taking my nice car to get serviced at Wal-Mart".....but, for a fully synthetic oil change, all your other fluids checked and filled, hell even your car vaccummed it's $34.00, and that is using Mobil 1 oil. I do this, the only thing is I take my own oil filter for them to use, or buy a better one than the crappy walmart brand.

I know some people will say they will stick to the dealer changing their oil for $80, but in all honesty, at wal-mart they do the same thing, and you can sit right next to your car and make sure they do it right if you are worried about the quality. I got a friend with an 01 Camaro SS and he has started taking his there, and he treats his car better than his wife. So, it's just a reccomendation I'd throw out there to some of ya, take it or leave it.

I used to do the Walmart BS, but then, you have to get up there by at LEAST 8:30, sit and wait or walk around for almost TWO HOURS and still pay 3 times as much for an oil change. I gave up on it, not to mention, the horror stories. You cant see what goes on in the pit...
