Need a copy of the original window sticker for my 01 GT??? any suggestions.

Goto a ford dealership with your VIN and talk to sales.

 

Its pretty difficult, I work at a Ford dealership, and we get builders that come in askin for help, and most of the time they can find the Information from the original sales file, and then they suggest they get a replica made with the new info, cuz they couldnt get the new one.

 

The stupid dealer i called said you will have to locate the original dealer blah blah blah and it cant be done....Doesanyone know the options for a 2001 Mustang GT??? Factory Ford Solar tint was that one of them??? i got a ticket for tinted windows..The ford dealer told me it was factory, the back ones have the ford logo with ford solar tint written under it...Can anyone confirm this with proof??? TIA I appreciate it

 

Tint on the front driver and passenger window? I don't think any car maker has ever done that (for the very reason you are asking, tickets). If you got ticketed for back windows (if you're laws are anything like Georgia's laws) they can't ticket you for them. In georgia You can have the back windows tinted as dark as you want but the front has to be 30%. Did he measure them with the guage thing they have?

If this happens again, ask when was the last time it was calibrated, then have them test it on the front windshield, if it don't read 100% on the front window then it can't be accurate. works 99% of the time (from personal experience)

 

Thats what I thought he got me for drivers/passenger side and said the back is to dark..Illinois law says anything on the back windows is fine but the front cant have any...I guess i am out of luck :wallbash: dang cops ahev nothing better to do :censored:

 

Yeah that sucks, big time. No tint allowed at all...

If they try to fine you extra for the rear windows print this out maybe it will atleast save you a few bucks...

Guess I know what state I wont visit when I go 5% all the way around my car! lol

The sad thing is i have owned this thing for 2 yrs never had a problem until now some dumb :censored: cop decides to give me a ticket.....I guess I will pay the $75 bucks and walk away..He also proceeded to tell me the next time it is a $500 ticket WTF??? are you kidding me??? you can see through my windows perfectly fine...They are probably 25 or 30% tinted....I dont know you win some you lose some...

 

Yeah, this actually got me curious to what Ga's laws were (last I heard they were 30& on the front and no limit on the rest)......boy was I wrong.

I just looked it up and it's 32% max all the way around...and goes on to say this

"Violation of the law by either driving a vehicle with illegal window tint or installing the illegal material is a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine up to $1,000 and/or up to 12 months imprisonment."

Damn, they are taking this stuff a little extreme? But if I ever get pulled over I get out of the car anyway, I carry a consealed weapon and the officer always understands that I am getting out to explain to him I have the weapon and I am no where near it when talking to him (reduces the chances of him seeing it and me looking down the barrel of his gun)

But one word of advise for the future if you get pulled over just roll both of your windows all the way down and hope they didnt see the tint in the first place. If that's solely what he pulled you over for, he's just being an *** (or a rookie on a power trip)...

 

my point exactly he had nothing better to do.....I have been next to plenty of cops with no problems I even had my window half down and had a cop comment on the exhaust....In a differnt town though....How ridiculous but its not a moving violation is it??? becasue they took my liscnese and gave me the ticket I thought they only did that for moving violations??

 

I dont think they can call it a moving violation. It's more of a "safety issue". their biggest argument is, say a cop pulled someone over and the windows were blacked out, there could be someone in the car pointing a gun at the cop and he wouldn't know it....my rebuttle (no I'm not a lawyer) would be....thats why cops have the loud speaker, if they pull someone over with dark tint, make them get out and walk back the the officers car!!

 

My point exactly....Maybe the donut shop had no more fresh donuts so he had to write a stupid ticket...

I pissed a cop off once got pulled over and this was the conversation no

(set up, I had a 98 S-10 with headlight covers, taillight covers, tinted tag cover , and actually had legal tint 30% on the front windows)

Cop: "Son, you know the covers on your headlights are illegal"

Me: "No sir, I asked an officer before I purchased them and he told me that if I had Daytime Running lamps or fog lights they were legal (in the daytime)"

COp: "OK, but your taillight covers are illegal"

Me: "no sir, I asked the same officer and he told me as long as I had a 3rd brake light they were legal"

Officer: "Well, you windows are too dark"

Me: "No sir, they are legal 30%"

(he checked them and they registered 31%)

Cop: "Well, your tinted tag cover is illegal"

Me: "OK, that one you got me on"


He ended up just giving me a warning since I had a screwdriver and went ahead and took it off. But I swear talk about being nervous as **** telling a cop "no you are wrong", I was. But it was all true, I was working at Pep Boys at the time and did get all of that information from a cop, (made sure to write down his badge number if I ever did get ticketed for them!)

 

My cop was just a dick nothin i said worked you got lucky although i have heard the same thing about headlight/tail light covers....I guess I was just sitting prey a younger guy in a some what loud Mustang...I had just turned a corner when the light went green so I knew it wasnt speeding he said you know why I pulled you over i said lets see i wasnt speeding, i stopped at the red light so NO! he said tinted windows i said you have to be kidding me...what a dumb a**
