Default need computer help

i have a asus k8n motherboard and a geforce 5500 agp 512mb video card. a generic 24" lcd tv/monitor. ok so i originally hooked the monitor up with regular vga. everything looked fine. today i went to fry's and got a dvi to hdmi cable thinking it was going to give me a better picture. my video card has a dvi output and a vga output. while i was using the vga i had a clear picture everywhere. once i hooked my dvi to hdmi cable up my picture seems worse. the text is almost blurry and icons don't seem quite as clear. anyone know what could have happened. cant find any settings on the actual tv that make a difference. played with all the resolutions on my control panel. is this normal? thinking about going back to vga.

DVI should be much much sharper than VGA.

You should be able to go to Nvidia Website and it will have this program to dectect your Video Card and give you the correct and newest driver for it.

Really though, the picture won't be as clear on the tv as it would be on an actual monitor. If it's working fine with vga, just stick with that.

yea, couldn't find a more recent driver. got the vga cable hooked back up. guess i should have got a computer monitor instead of a television. as long as i have the vga cable hooked up the picture is great. plus the reason i got this instead of an actual computer monitor is for the extra inputs. i have my xbox360 hooked up to the component input
